Fly rug recomendations? Premier Equine, Mark Todd?

Having successfully killed last year's Derby House affair the pony is in need of a new fly rug.

Shes 14.2hh, pink skinned and very sensitive to fly bites. I'm ideally after one which has belly and full neck protection and which won't rub her skin.

I've had a look at the Mark Todd airflow one and like the look of it, only worry is that the heavier material might rub her withers (out 24/7 and will have this on most of the time), but I will be buying online so can't get a hold of it to feel what it is like.
I also like the Premier Equine full neck mesh one, she seems to fit PE rugs well and her turnout from there is great quality, but it doesn't have a belly flap and she is prone to bites on her belly. I don't know if it comes up long down the sides and by crossing the surcingles you cover most of the belly, anyone got one?

Have you looked at the Amigo ones? I am very happy with mine, and definitely covers most of the belly & the full neck :)

The premier equine ones do come up deep as they fit our shire x and the material meets under his belly. The only problem we had was it the surcingles wouldn't cross as he's chunky but I just got extra bits put on it. He's got the sweet itch one xx

I have now got him one from the big horse shop but that's because I wanted a spare and their rugs fit him really well xx
 
Ive just bought a mark todd fly rug (the one with the elasticated neck) its still yet to arrive but looks of similar design to a derby house one that I have which is excellent :). i did look at PE ones because they are my favourite rug brand and I wont buy anything else for turnout rugs now, but imo the flysheets all looked like the necks were too short (unusually for PE) except perhaps on the one with earholes which in my general experience the horses don't like and come off when they roll. Whilst deep they also only have normal surcingles rather than a belly band to protect from flies. As I say Im usually a huge PE fan and the first to rate their turnout and stable rugs but from what I could tell their flyrugs just didnt look as good :o. :) hope that helps a little.
 
I have a mark Todd one my guy really suffers with fly bites and he doesnt get any with the mark Todd one. The only problem is it is quite heavy material and on v hot days he does sometimes sweat in it.
 
Have done the Mark Todd one (the one with the built in neck) and it was too tight on my TB's shoulders.
Also had the Rambo one and that rubbed. Last year tried the Shires one with inbuilt shower panels and pony found it too hot.
Then a friend sold me her Amigo cheap and it was the best by far. Will def buy one again :D
 
The trouble with the amigo is they are not very long in the neck.
Several in our yard have pe and they do have long necks and look good value for money as lasting well.
 
I prefer the Weatherbeeta airflow soft mesh combo, horses seem to stay cool in it unlike the heavier ones
 
We have 2 x Rambo Protector and 1 x Premier Equine.

Prefer the Rambo - light, cool fabric and fits nicely. PE one is a mane rubber too.
