Horse has very sensitive thin skin and seems to get bitten very easily. The others have been out with nothing on and been fine yet she gets eaten alive. She is currently wearing an amigo bug rug and it works fine apart from on her face and the top of her neck. So she now wears a fly mask too, but that doesnt help the top of the neck. She is chestnut and when she is bitten the hair grows back white so is slowly becoming a spotty!

I need a fly rug that covers the top of the neck and the face or joins to a face cover of some sort, but cant afford a boett really...

found this on ebay but cant tell if it covers the ears and throat area or not..

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

I think I'm the only person on here who doesn't rate the Rambo SI Hoody. In fact, I thought it was that rubbish, I sold it on ebay. Since bought an Amigo one and it's far better.

Another vote for the Rambo SI hoody, I think it's fab. Riff Raff made a similar rug too but with less dense fabric, it has the ear holes to stop it slipping back. I think the company is no more sadly but the rugs do come up on ebay from time to time, a friend bought one a few weeks ago.

The Bucas fly rug is great, it comes up to the top of the eas, held in place an elastic strap that goes in front of the ears, it also has a belly wrap. I use it with a fly mask - covers everything! Not too badly priced either

Don't have any personal experience with either but the Rambo SI hoody definately covers that area and Mark Todd have bought out a new fly rug this which has the same design as there turnout with the extra bit at the wither so the top of the hood touches the ears when they graze. I love the fit of the TO and guess this is the same

Another vote for the rambo sweetitch hoody, pretty much the only rug that keeps the neck covered and protected when the horses head is down and grazing. Stays put and hard wearing. I have a black horse and she doesn't sweat up under it either infact she almost seems cooler under it!!
