Fly Rug Recommendations anyone?

I bought the premier equine buster with the full face mask for £2 extra, so far so good, mask and rug have stayed on perfectly. Decent price too. I'm going to buy a sweet itch rug for the tb when I have the funds, and at that time this rug will be passed onto the cb as she doesn't suffer so much with the bites. But I didn't expect this rug to be so good, I'm delaying the sweet itch rug now as it's not so urgent ... and I got the colts vet bill today

If you search on ebay there's quite a few sweet itch rug alternatives to the boett at cheaper prices.

Horseware sweetitch hoody - ours trashed his boett but is happy in this rug with all exposed bit (legs etc.) slathered in NetTex summer salve (sometimes called sumemr freedom). I believe Premier Equine do a knock off of it, but I have no idea how sturdy it is?!

This year I bought Chantin a Sweet Itch hoody to stop the little blighters biting her and causing the same reaction I had earlier this year. Its great and well worth the money.

I am having good results with a Rambo protector - along with brewers yeast and my fly spray so far it is keeping Chancer from getting mild SI on his tail and belly.

Fits well, no rubbing and seems to be tough. I have removed the detachable neck cover - Chancer's mane is too precious to risk - the detachable neck cover was one of the major decisions for buying it as I can put it on if he should start to rub higher up.

We have tried everything. The rambo rug was good however after a while the lines and folds in the neck line become rigid. The tesco store did a cheap one last year which lasted well. But we have found that snuggy hoods do a fanastic rug which fits well and keeps those little flies away.
