Any suggestions as to how to prevent it?

It is a Weatherbeeta one and was only bought last year... it has rubbed quite badly and has only been on for one day

Becki - Chantins did exactly the same thing - got shut of it in the end. Ended up buying her a Rambo Flybuster (green mess one) it didnt rub her at all. This year I got her a sweet itch hoody and again its not rubbing her.
IMHO I hate the Weatherbeeta fly rugs -they pull backwards and rub like hell - love all their other rugs.

Have to say i agree with ECW i had a weatherbeta mesh combo fly rug and it rubbed my old horses shoulders and mane really badly and he was nt a horse that was prone to rug rubs. I bought a sweet itch hoody (horseware) and it proved a much better rug.

I bought a weatherbeeta mesh combo and a fleece rug. Over the winter the fleece rubbed him really badly, and as for the mesh fly sheet.... it somehow ended up round ponios neck, How I don't know, but it was lucky he didnt get it caught on a fence, he had the sense to stand still in the field and wait for me to rescue him. I'd never buy weatherbeeta again.
