well this year for the first time ever I have decieded to have a go at showing my big lad..because hes bay i have been advised to use a full fly rug when its sunny to stop his coat bleaching...hmmmm bought a MT combo and it rubs..now in the winter he never wears a rug without a bossys bib..does anyone use one of these routinely with fly rugs or anyone suggest fly rugs for bigger chest/shouldered horses..hes a 16.3 IDX....

thing is i wont have rubs so he will just have to have a bleached coat...I have a gorge 6.6 Bucas heavy turnout that worn half dozen times that now have to sell as well as that rubs him..only a few hundred quid..arghh would be nice to have a horse that was easy to rug!!

If you don't want rubs, avoid combos like the plague.

I use a shires maxiflow rug & neck cover, this has never rubbed and stays put. Mine is a broad Selle Francais x native in a 6ft 9".

Riff Raff rugs are also good, but now out of production.

have the Mark Todd two piece and its been fine with Pidge, 17hh ISH. In the winter he has to wear a bib as all his rugs whatever make rub his shoulders as his shoulders are huge

thanks for that guys...think I thought Combo would be better on mane rubbing than a two piece but looks like Im about to hit the shops again!!..have put a bossys bib under today but bit worried will end up with patches!!!..who would have thought showing would be so complicated!!

Hey I've got the same problem with my grey TB. All his rugs rib his withers, whether they are combos or seperate rug and neck cover! In winter he wear a bossy's bib under all his rugs. But didn't want to put one under fly sheet as thought he would get to hot! But hey ho, bought him a brand new weatherbeta combo fly sheet, he's worn it twice and now has a nice bald shoulder - and we have out first showing class this weekend - great!
Bossy bib under it me thinks!
Good luck.
