Hello,

Any recommendations for fly rugs for chunky ponies with BIG manes. I usually plait his mane under the rug. I have one derby house rug from last year which seems to work quite well. I need one that can be left on overnight in the stable (so not the weatherbeeta which has to attach to a headcollar).

I notice there are 3 types of fly rug in the derby house catalogue: essential, sport and heritage. - does anyone know the difference between them apart from the price?

:)

Love the derby house one, mine is a couple of years old, it is the sport one, though tbh there doesn't seem to be an awful lot of difference between them! Mine wears hers for 24/7 for a week (excepting riding obv!) then I take it off to wash it and swap to her second one. Otherwise it does get a bit grubby inside, and being a rolly grubby pony she makes the outside filthy too!!

I had a derby house one last yr and i just didnt find it a great fit. Bit on the small side. Bought an Amigo one this yr a bug rug and i think its great! fits great and even when he rolls and gallops about it stays put. It's also uv protecting which is great for V as he is an appaloosa with pink skin it seems better quality than my last one. x
