Fly rugs for the broader of shoulder horses.

I'm looking to buy my big fatty bum warmblood a fly rug. I usually buy mine Derby house rugs as for the price they do the job, I'm not a big spender on the rug front. Unfortunately though the fly rug shape just isn't right so was wondering if anyone could recommend brands that are bigger in the front department.

Budget would is around the £50-60 mark, perhaps a little more if I have to :rolleyes:

I've had to extend the chest of my derby house fly rug to fit around big shoulders :/
I have the pink rainbow weatherbeeta fly rug too and that fits his shoulders in fine with no rubbing :) I think it cost me around 40-50.
 
Mine has a masta bug rug, they were on sale from hope valley saddlery for £40 I think and also a cheaper best on horse standard fly rug. Both fit lovely and suit horses with bigger shoulders.
 
I normally spend quite a bit on rugs but I bought a gallop fly rug for £29.00 for my broad shouldered Andalucian. I cut the top breast strap clean off so it is just secured with the lower breast strap. It fits a treat with no rubbing at all. I didn't feel one bit guilty for doctoring it with the scissors as it was so cheap. I would definitely buy another one and do the same.
 
I just bought my horse an equidor fly rug. Fits great and he has big shoulders. The zebra rhinegold one I bought him didn't fit at all. Equidor one was £21 I think from eBay. Nice colours too.
 
I've found Weatherbeeta Airflow Combo to be a good fit on the two cobs I've used it on. It's now on it's 5th summer and although has a few holes I think it's worn very well as it's had a hard life, think Shetland dragging cob around by it!

I don't personally find them that good. My horse has destroyed them in the past and now he just removes them by undoing the front buckles first. For some reason he destroys the more expensive rugs and not the cheap ones.
 
Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm sitting down today to see what is about on websites and eBay and the best prices, fingers crossed I'll have one by next week just in time for the it's rain... Lol!
 
We've got the gee tac ones on our wide Spanish, Irish cobsand quarter horse, fit lovely and are cheap. Don't like spending loads on fly rugs as they rip easily!
