Fly rugs in the rain

This may seem a daft question but do other people leave fly sheets on their horses in the rain?

I've finally found one to fit my boy (a Rambo) but I haven't used it yet because of the weather and thought it might be unpleasant for him.

dont suppose it matters-flies are still around when it wet,especially midgies! fly rugs are only mesh which doesnt hold water and dries off quickly !

Ah thanks, that's a good point. So he shouldn't end up shivering with a wet rug afterall!

Yup, I leave my boys Boett on all the time. The mesh on Rambo's doesnt really hold wet as such, and they dry off really quickly when left on the horse anyway.

I pop a lightweight rug over my snuggyhood sweetitch rug.He wears his rug all the time but I hate it getting really wet thentaking it off to ride and having to put it back on wet .So I cover it if its pouring.He still needs his tummy covering so I have to leave the sweetitch rug on under

i leave solos bucas fly rug on in the rain, its only really the binding that holds the wet.

I used to but the other morning she came in shivering because her fly rug was soaked, hung it up to dry and it still hadn't dried by the afternoon.

I leave my rambo on if its raining. It dries quickly and doesn't seem to cling to him at all

That's what I was worried about HelenAndShadow. I'll give it a go when I'm still on the yard (that's if it rains of course) and see what happens. Then at least when I'm not about I'll feel a bit better about it.

I've got the same problem, two days later and rug still not dry!

Rambo do a liner now for when its raining that goes under the fly sheet. Don't know if this is any good or if anyone here has tried it yet.

I too leave my flyrugs on when its raining because whenever i get back to them they are always try on the horses.

My old pony used to wear a Boett. In light rain it was fine but in weather like we are having at the moment it used to get water logged and she was cold and shivering underneath, so I used a lightweight t/o on top whenever it rained which solved the problem.

I leave Rocks fly rug on in the rain because if i dont he gets bitten to death still! He doesn't seem to be bothered - he was drier than the ones out in no rugs!
