I use Amigo bug rug. £50. I have a TB - can't get finer than that! It's great. I am on my third year with it so good quality too.

the Amigo bug rug is great, i have that one, also the weatherbeeta one. Mine is fine skinned tb too and hasn't been rubbed. I like the look of the derby house one too though. They need them just now, never seen the horse flies as bad as today. I might invent a fly sheet for riders too!

When you find one tell me! My appaloosa is so thined skin his chest is being rubbed like crazy but he gets eaten by the flies otherwise!

My instructor recommended sewing silk onto the areas of the flyrug where it rubs, I guess it saves having to buy a new rug :)

Might try the silk!

i need one to, i have the mark todd one, its a fantastic design and does the job but after one day of wearing it its rubbed the hair of his shoulders.

I tried loads (including Amigo bug rug) and the only rug that didn't rub was the Rambo Dustbuster. This rug has no seams in it whatsoever and is one piece of soft stretchy fabric. It was the seams that I found rubbed my boy.

I have just removed my TB's Masta fly rug, rubbed on chest and flank. Slathered in fly repellant for the time being. Should know better though as a Masta turnout has rubbed him before, so just don't think he is built for them.

I think its just a case of trying out the various brands and seeing what works for your horse (of your other non-fly rugs is their a brand whos cut seems to fit him really well, because I'd try that first). There is no one 'never rubs' rug, all horses are different shapes, so what fits my horse really well (and so doesn't rub her, and incidentally its a weatherbeeta one) may not fit yours IYSWIM?

I have the same problem with one of mine, never had an issue with the Rambo Protector rubbing her. Highly recommend it..

What build is your horse? Think that makes more of a difference than the particular rug - what rug brands fit well in stable rugs/turn outs etc? I love the derby house one and esp the rambo sweetitch hoody (no leg straps so no rugs inside back legs and it doesn't twist at all!).
