Fly Rugs

Amigo Bug Buster I think is more generous around the shoulders than other Amigo styles as they fit my chunky warmbloods. They don’t fit my Welsh/ID/Arab cross ss well as he’s narrower around the shoulders and he ends up with it slipping down and back. Although it might have been a size too big but I think it’s the cut.

I've got the swish fly rug & waterproof fly rug, they're great rugs. Fit my chunky connie cross perfectly. I'd tried endless makes before getting these & nothing else fitted properly.

The Amigo rugs are the best fit for my horse, who has to wear one all spring and summer . He detests flies and drives himself potty without it on .

Do you have the mesh one or Nylon? I've heard the Nylon one can make them over heat?

Nylon and yes they are warmer but only when it was about 26-30 degrees! So the height of summer, I ended up taking it off my girl as she got sweaty under it. It was fine the rest of the so-called summer that we had!

What is everyones recommendations for fly rugs this year? My boy is Cob X so don't want anything tight on his shoulders. The Aussie Allrounders don't really fit him properly and they have always been my go too for all my horses for years! I have a Le Mieux Kudos stable rug which I love and considering the fly rug in this range or looking at the shower proof ones from PE?
I have just ordered one of these for more room on shoulders. https://thebighorseshop.co.uk/products/heavy-horse-zebra-horse-fly-rug-broad-fit

Big horse shop, swish or ruggles for full on heavy build of cob. Dont size up!

Le mieux Kudos is very close to being a big horse rug.

Shires highlander aren't bad either.

I'm very tempted by Swish! He's not a heavy cob but has feather! Swish Turnouts seems to be the ones that fit him best and I do a 0g Weatherbeeta Comfitech which fits OK so maybe Swish is the best bet! Does everyopne rate the waterproof ones? I'd kind of want one of each waterproof and a normal!!

Yep I also have a swish waterproof rug and its fab! Its one of my most used rugs in spring/summer with our wet weather!

Also have chunky horse. Tried a nylon swish fly rug that I found it quite shit tbh it rubs my horse and doesn’t fit anywhere near as nice as their turnouts I think the clips don’t offer anywhere near as much adjustability as the old style buckles did. It also ripped and doesn't look as easy to repair as a traditional fly rug. Had a Rambo protector for years which was amazing but brought a replacement in the same size last year and it was huge. So not sure of they have changed their sizing or I got one that was labeled a size smaller than it was. Need to get a replacement this year but not sure what to go for. I was looking at Weatherbeeta hexi sheild one but not sure what size to go for as she’s 6ft3 in weatherbeeta stable rugs but 6ft in the old freestyle rugs.
