can you wear a fly veil like this:

in dressage (pony club eventing)?

my horse is so sensitive to flys and shakes her head like mad, have been schooling her in this recently and she has been totally fine, just wondering if i could wear it in a test or not.

I don't think so - if the dressage stage of the event is run under BD rules or even PC dressage rules then it is not allowed

I rub fly gel on Tia's ears and fly spray her a few minutes before the test - the judge can't smell it and it keeps the flies at bay for the length of my test. Maybe that could be a solution?

oh poop, thanks anyway- its not essential, just annoying when she shakes her head- will have to buy some extra strong flyspray which she hates having put on her ears, but better than nothing!

Think if you have a letter from the vet it is only for headshaking nose nets not ear covers and pony club are even stricter ,in dressage you have to have a plain brow band.
Have you tried the nose nets then if that worked you could get a letter

There was a picture recently in H&H where one of the YR's horses was wearing a fly veil. I always thought they werent allowed.

We've got a vets note to say Grinder is allowed to wear in ears in the dressage due to his hyper-sensitivity since he perforated his ear drum.
He's black so we just use a very discreet black pair which are trimmed down so they are hardly visible really.

Yes there is a picture of Melissa Beer's horse wearing a fly veil, page 30 of the 26th July HH issue. Best people to ask are BD, get the answer from the horses mouth!
