after years of going to horse shows I am now horseless so to satisfy my competitive instincts I have taken up flyball.I went to a flyball tournament yesterday and it must have been the longest day I have ever had in my competitive career! Up at 4am as we had to be in Cheshire for 07.45.
The tournament was great. Our club had 4 teams. My dogs were in the starters and division 4.
The Starter dog (my 8 year old Lab)was 4th and the Div 4 team with my collie cross WON!!!!!
Home at 22.30!

On the way home we passed several horse boxes, obviously on their way home from events and it crossed my mind that at least when we got home we didn't have horses to feed, groom, make comfortable etc, just the dogs to hug and tell them how brilliant they are. (we had taken their dinner with us and fed them before we came home.)
Who cares about the long day. we all had such fun.

Well done! That does sound like a long day! I've got 2 springer spaniel puppies that I want to do some flyball with when they are old enough!

Well done Goya! What a long day.

Can't wait to get back to training on Wednesday. Darcy is 1 next month so hopefully we will be competing before too long as well. Do you think realistically by the spring/early summer we could be taking part?

thank you. What I missed from my report was that the 1st Division team had real bad luck.
B***** FIREWORKS!!!!!!
They were going so well and had won 3 out of 3 legs. They went into the afternoon session and just as they were lining up some thoughtless ********* somewhere in the not to distance let off several fireworks.
This really spooked two of the dogs and they obviously could not run.
perhaps I should post a new thread re fireworks.
Why doesn't the Government ban the Blooming things?
Regarding competing, I can only say that I started training in may 2007 and did my first competition in December 2007.So go for it. Keep training and have fun.
