Hi,

Im just wondering what your views are on equestrian businesses leaving flyers on your horsebox whilst at a horse show?,

do you not mind, hate them, or ever find them of any interest?

Have you done this for your business, and found a lot of interest has come from it?

thanks very much in advance

(sorry for posting this twice, i wasnt sure where to put it)

The only times it really annoys me is when you see lots that have been thrown onto the floor, littering the place. Then the other time is if it's been heavily raining and you've got to clean up a whole load of paper mush off your window.

Other than that I don't mind.

I don't mind (unless I don't notice until I'm driving along and go to wash the windscreen!!!).

I've had show schedule, horsebox services, etc etc all left on the lorry at shows.

Also please ensure you only stick them on the drivers side. There's nothing more annoying than setting off to find one flapping on the passenger side, whereas you'd see it as soon as you sat down on the driver's side before you even got your seatbelt on. .

Ok I am obviously the only one then who never ever notices them until I am half way down the motorway and they start flapping and eventually fly off:o

ok, thanks fo the replies, so:

drivers side, not on rainy days, big enough to be noticable so you dont drive off without seeing them

Many years ago I made up some flyers when I was looking for a horse to buy and put them on everyones windscreen at all the local show venues on a day when the discipline I wanted to compete my new horse in was on. This way I was reaching a target audience. I was very particular about what breed/colour/height/age/sex I was looking for so was delighted to get a phone call from a vendor to say the horse he was selling was what I was looking for and i went on to get the horse vetted and buy him. Unfortunately 11 months down the line he was PTS after tragically breaking his leg in the field.

I found advertising my 'wanted ad' in this way was very effective. It was like word of mouth but much more effective and it was a personal plea for a horse which appealed to many people.

I do find that normal adverts offering non horsey products to buy irritate me at shows as I normal see the flyer bouncing around on my windscreen as I am half way up the motorway!!

Recently at a show.....loads of us were left flyers by the owner of a livery yard ....we had all previously been on the yard and left for a variety of reason. The flyers were ace- but bore no resemblance to the yard we knew so well:D

Funny....she must have known whose vehicles/boxes she was sticking them on:rolleyes:

bless.... god loves a trier :D

Hate them! Just because I just get in the lorry to set off and then notice them and have to get and move it.:)
Tend not to read them though as usually to busy.

I used to flyer lorries etc (showjump business) i used to always ring the show/event secuatry and ask if they minded. Then whilst going around if people were by the lorries/trailers would introduce myself and ask if they wanted a flyer never had an issue with anybody if they said no fair enough.

we did get a lot of business from it aswell, paid just over 100 quid for 5000 flyers and got over 1000 quids worht of orders from proberely about 300 flyers.

I don't mind show schedules (so long as it's for a local show not one MILES away!), but otherwise I find them annoying. I however don't mind people coming up to me and asking if I would like a flyer, in which case I can either accept or decline depending on what it is.

I am quite glad of them if they are of some use or telling me about a show I didnt know about, although the showground owners/keepers done like them much as people chuck them on the floor and they have to clear them up

I get very excited when a show schedule is left attached to our lorry/trailer, and i end up talking about the schedule all the way home!! They are annoying on the passanger side, as you have to get out to walk all the way around, whereas if they are on the drivers side you can easily reach out the window and snag them.
They are a pest in wet weather, as they stick to the window leaving paper mush. Not good.

thanks,

the flyers will be for a new Rug brand (my own, that ive started having made), which are reasonably priced (as im buying direct from manufacturer) but good quality, so hopefully wont be too unwelcome by most horse owners :)

You must ask the event organiser or secretary before distributing the leaflets in any way either on Lorry's or handing them out, you could get fined at some shows.

Also some bigger events use it as an advertising package so companies actually pay to be able to put leaflets on your cars or lorry's. They would be pretty annoyed if you go ahead & do it for free.

Good luck
