Despite trawling the field, I can’t find the boy’s flymask; it was a UV Cashel, full nose to protect his big white face with eye vents cos otherwise his long eyelashes stick out like spider legs. I’d rather not fork out £30 to get one delivered, so I’m looking at the Shires, like this (pink cos at least 2 other geldings have the blue one): https://www.derbyhousestore.com/Shi...d-Nose-Fly-Mask/dh5182206.htm?colour=Burgundy

Does anyone have one? The priority is to keep flies off his eyes, obviously, but uv protection is equally essential.

yes me. :D

good eye clearance. It has done 2 summers so will be a new one net year and I shall get the same one.
Mine is blue because Rupert is a boy. ;)

I have Shires ones for my lot. I really like them. Sizes come up big.

Extra full, small pony and full. Could probably have gone down a size for the big two.

You lot are brilliant! Pics! Beau is also a boy, but 2 others have the blue one, don’t want to be confused about whose is which!

I've got the range of Shires too. They fit better than equilibrium as mine all seem to be I between sizes.

I had to cut the nose mesh section off that style of mask because it drove them bonkers for some reason.

Fat Cob has full sized shires. He's only 14.2 at a push but has a wide forehead.

Chip is in the cob size with the dangly nose strings. He's approx 14.3

Max is at least 16.3hh ex trotter. In one of his inherited full sized masks the tips of the ears had to be cut off to accommodate his donkey lugs, but everywhere it fits fine. He just looks like Steptoes horse! He "borrowed" a new full sized shires I had bought and that fits his ears but is very slightly snug under his cheeks. I didn't realise that they did an extra full.

Don't know if that helps size wise at all

well that is all very well but have you considered how Beau wishes to identify? Will he be confused if you dress him up like a girl? :D

His main colour is purple, so rugs/accessories etc are purple. I just bought the burgundy flymask. He is definitely part girl, likes to scream a lot when he hears me arriving. He’s definitely a boy, however, as proved when a friend went to catch him in and he was on a 12hh mare whose field he’d jumped into and wouldn’t leave alone! I was wondering the other day if he was used to cover before I got him.

Yes I am another who has several.
The favourite being an old model full face but I also have a few of the new ones and I did have the one with the fringe nose but every horse I tried it on really hated and was irritated by it so I’ve chopped the fringe off, it’s fine without.
My only thing is that for my new horse full is quite big but cob is quite small ?‍♀️

I bought Ruggles on offer, very pleased with the quality and the ability to stay on, and cheap. The seams that could rub are covered with what looks like neoprene.

The fly rug, which I bought at the same time, was also made out of a strong mesh, good coverage, fit, and about half the price of my Rambo fly rug.
Does it clear the eyes/lashes?
That is a really tempting price even just to get a few for future summers or spares

I used a woof wear one on my late girlie... She was a serial fly mask remover and destroyer! Cost about £25, and was the first one she left on all day, and actually lowered her head for to be put on. No rubs, nice and soft. Wish I'd bought one sooner

I have 20 shires fly masks and the best so far is the one with nose tassels I would say . Shires are one of the best on the market I think. Mine hardly get them off.

I love the look of these but the boy has a big pink and white cob nose so needs a uv nose or he burns.

I love this, they look like an album cover!

For a metal band! ??

The one I bought has uv. He definitely needs it. He was covered in flies today, on top of the flymask. I’ve sprayed it with flyspray, hopefully that’ll improve matters. I gave him a shower after tea, he was sweaty, bless him.
