The flys were out in force today and i found lots of them in my mares ears. They had been bitting her and on closer inspection they were all bloody. Can anyone give me some advice on how i can stop them. Ive tried the ear thingies but she get them off.

Sudo creme, and plenty of fly repellent around the ears! Net-tex and Coopers is brilliant. To make her more comfortable, wash with warm water gently, and then apply some Sudo Creme. To help relieve itching, try some cold black tea around the edges of her ears, works well, as long as they're not grey though! :) xx

Damp cotton wool balls and wipe out the inside of her ears, to get rid of the blood and wee scabs. Sudocrem works well at keeping the blighters away.

We use Sudocrem and a flymask with ears, though Dizz rubs the ears and it ends up with holes in, which kind of spoils it.

We get fly cream from the vets, it smells of citronella and is more liquid than sudocrem. it lasts ages and does the job really well. Horse LOVES having a dollop of it stuffed down her lugholes which seems odd to me, must be cold!
