Hi

Has anyone used Barrier fly spray, if so does it work? Can anyone recommend a flyspray as I haven't found anything that works very well on my TB with sensitive skin.
Poor boy he gets bitten a lot and the bites come up into large raised bumps. He wears a fly sheet or boett rug but still manages to get some nasty bites.

The Barrier one with avocado oil is supposed to be good.
My instructor's mare has bad sweet itch, and the bits of her that aren't covered in her Boett rug and a fly mask are sprayed in Avon Skin So Soft body oil. She doesn't get bitten as much with that on

Another excellent fly spray is the Leovet Power Phaser. It's a bit strong though so you may need to dilute it for something with sensitive skin, but it works a treat! My friend also uses the Equine America "coat conditioner" - a re-named version of their old 'Natural Fly Spray' so they can get away with selling it with citronella in it

I am using the Barrier one at mo, because I can't get Leovet Power Phaser, which I think is the best.

Barrier with avocado oil, is good for about an hour or two I would say,but you need a far bit -literally cover the horse, but it doesn't stop the cleggs or the deer fly(horrendous biting creature 2 cm long)

'Horse essentials' roll on fly repellent is great! it doesn't last too long but isn't expensive and is very effective as well as being for sensitive skin as its a 'Natural insect repellent spray based on chemotyped pure essential oils of eucalyptus lemon, Atlas cedar, exotic verbena, tea tree, mint, lavandin, cinnamon, rosemary, geranium and citronella.'
