Does anyone know if a foal is born cream/palomino, but had dark palomino legs up to and above its knee's and a white male and tail with a black/dark palomino base what colour its likely to go. thanks I'me ever so confused:confused:

As S4S said, it would help to know the sire and dam's colours. Do either of them have the cream gene or the silver gene?

He doesn't look like Enfys' palomino foals. Is the mane and tail silver rather than white?
 
He's fathers bay and his mothers creamello., not sure on the silver gene but they've both thrown duns in the past

They will have been buckskin, but the UK is very behind with calling bay + cream horses buckskin rather than dun.

The dark legs make me wonder whether he is black based rather than chestnut based. Has the sire ever sired a chestnut?

It will be interesting to see the colour of his adult coat.

He reminds me of this horse (black + agouti + cream + silver dapple)

I agree with ECID, whatever colour he is - he's beautiful. :D
 
With a cremello parent he has to have a cream gene so can't be a silver bay.
Could perhaps be a smoky black + silver.
Silver is not found in many breeds.
Can you link to his pedigree or give us his breeding?
 
Creamello is pretty good at 'hiding' other genes.

The horse in the photo above is a silver buckskin. I'm not saying that this is what he is... he just looks similar at the moment. He's certainly not a 'classic' palomino.

@farcat He's black based not chestnut and that I know of his sires' thrown only duns or bays and thank you

@s4s don't know the mares pedigree as haven't seen it but the sires by boden park finnard out of a mare called tatham ballydoll
 
Ok, if the sire only carries black (rather than one black and one chestnut gene), then the foal cannot be palomino as that is a chestnut based colour.

He's very, very interesting for one so young. :D
 
Ok, thank you. He's not a colour I've ever come across so wondered if anyone else had; he's obvoiusly wanting to be unique hehe
 
Nope the mares defenatiely creamello she's got the right coat colouring, eyes and the white lashes. I thought he might go grey but he's not got the grey round his eyes so was unsure
 
Grey could be possible but cremellos can hide lots of things.

I have seen a silver smoky black that was about the colour of this foal's new coat but I would like to know how the op is sure the foal is black based? The sire has at least one grey parent and a lot of greys in the pedigree so could carry red.

What breed is the dam - Connies don't have silver.

Watching this with interest, whatever he turns out to be, he is a handsome little chunk :)

Definitely not the classic palomino I am used to, he would be classed as (rightly or wrongly) a sooty heregoing by looks alone.

I hope you will post pictures as he changes please :)
