I have a strange query.

A very close friend of mine has had her new foal diagnosed with a hole in the heart. It needs immediate treatment to avoid the poor thing having heart failure.

An operation is a possibility but the cost is a major factor.

Does anyone know if Veterinary schools/hospitals take on rare cases/operations for teaching purposes at a reduced rate?

Any help greatly appreciated

I know that they sometimes do - but you would have to discuss it before the operation, and come to an agreement with them. Ask - you've nothing to lose.
Vets may also make a payment plan - where you pay a certain amount monthly, rather than the whole thing at once. Again - you have to ask.
