Any tips for foal insurance? She is 6 months old. Just weaned and now mine. Don’t want to over insure. Although I paid £5k for her the insurance is more to insure for vets bills incase anything awful happens. Would it make sense to insure her for less than the £5k? Any tips/advice gratefully received. My older mare is with KBIS and they have always been great. Tempted to go with them but it is quite pricey!!! Thanks in advance ?

I insured my foals witgh NFU with the home breds being insured for the stud fee plus a little extra. The ones that I bought were insured for their purchase price but it is definitely tempting to say that you paid less than you did in order to reduce the premiums but I'm not sure that it is legal however if the question is along the lines of ' what is the value' then you could justify a lower amount.

NFU, you can insure for less than purchase price if you can justify it, they just need to check with the underwriters. We used them this week they were much cheaper than KBIS and all the other ones we tried!
