My lovely mare had a stunning foal a few days ago. All well with mother and son. Overjoyed with the two of them. They’re being very well looked after (on full livery) and I’ve had some cuddles with the little boy (and his mum of course) and I’m so glad I did this mad thing of importing her in foal, unseen. I’ve gone from never thinking I’d ever own my own horse to having two in a few months - feeling very lucky! My mare is looking very fit and has already slimmed down a bit, and seems to have grown a bit in height since she foaled (is that a thing?!). I can see her as a riding horse in a few months (winter time) and can’t wait to ride her - but she’ll have a nice long maternity leave of at least six months first.

True, they are so cute. It’s a shame I will have to be away from them for more than a month…(we always go back to my home country in the summer). I hope I get lots of updates when I’m away.

I know! The yard owner remarked that she looked taller a few days after giving birth, and I had just had the same thought myself. I will have to measure her in due course - I don’t think she’s 14 hands but maybe close!?
