Well the vet has just been to take a look at Cruise's leg and he is very pleased indeed with it, as I thought he would be.

Cruise is back out now 24/7 in the field without any dressings although he has hydrocortisone put on his wound twice a day and it is working fantastically well. No proud flesh and it is shrinking so quickly. I'm happy and the little chap doesn't seem at all fazed by it all.

Here is a photo taken a minute ago:

And to remind you of it the day after I had cleaned it up and put him on bute for the swelling.

Blimey - I've totally managed to miss this! Which foal is it and how on earth did it manage to woulnd itself like that? Looks to be healing nicely though - poor mite.

That's amazing, I've been following progress with great interest as having been involved with some nasty wounds, healing interest me!

It's looking so good and so quickly!

Oh - strange as it may sound - nice. I can't get over how that's shrinking. Do you think it's cause he's a foal and everything seems to be x2 with them.

Think it might just be down to your dedication though!! Well done - psst tell me your secret!!

Thanks everyone.

SN - he scraped the skin right down to the tendon on a tombstone hay feeder - rolling and got caught in it. This is Meg's little foal that she spent her savings on to buy for herself.

Yes I am constantly amazed at how skin can heal itself. Deb, I expect the speedy results are because he is a foal and all parts of him are growing so quickly. I'm not really doing anything now; been told not to wet it or clean it, just to put hydrocortisone on it and then leave it. Seems to be working though so it suits me.

I'm really happy as he is such a nice little foal and it would have been such a shame if he hadn't come through this.
