Foal shedding coat at 1 month

I have a one month old colt foal and he is starting to shed his coat, it seems a little early and there is no scratch marks on him, I thought he was rubbing against a post but I have checked around the fields to see and there is nothing he can be doing it off, has anyone else had a foal shed so early ?

It's what foals do, my neighbour for example breeds Welsh section b ponies, they are nearly all born varying shades of beige, but end up chestnut, grey, cremello, palamino or liver chestnut
