I'm not sure if links are allowed to other forums, but I've copied and pasted an article from another forum I use. PLEASE read it. If anyone lives in the area, or has friends or relatives living there, please ask them to listen out in local pubs etc for anyone bragging about shooting at horses. In 1999, my sister's 4yo pony was shot. He didn't die from his very serious injuries and had to be PTS. He was in absolute agony. The culprit in my sister's case was caught as he was heard a few days later, bragging about shooting a horse, in local pubs near to where it happened.
PLEASE read the following message, thankyou.

Between late Friday night (23rd) and early hours Saturday morning (24th) a filly foal out grazing with its mother was shot dead , she was grazing out with several other mares and foals in Balsall Common West Midlands, there is a substantial reward put up by the Trevallion Stud leading to the conviction of the person responsible for killing the foal, whether it was a poacher mistaking as a deer perhaps or with intent, PLEASE call if you have or hear any information ! you can report it to the police or direct to the stud your call will be kept in the strictest of confidence ~ dont ignor this dreadfull act, think of how you would feel ! please if you know who is responsible do the right thing ! the reward as stated is substantial if you can get the person reponsible convicted !!!

I hope anyone caught and convicted gets an appropriate punishment.
Thinking of all those directly affected.

My ponies were shot at numerous times in some sort of drunken shoot at anything party many, many years ago. Not killed, but full of shot and terrified. £12 fine was the punishment. One of the reasons I hate guns, too easily deadly in the wrong hands.

A donkey was shot dead and it's fieldmate wounded just up the road from where I was keeping my horses last year.

I had many a sleepless night wondering if my horses would be next.

The culprit was never caught.

Poor foaly. :(

Just too awful, poor foal and mare. I would think that the person who did this vile act did not do it on some randam whim. I would think that he most likely had a issue with Mr N Smith.

i just cant understand some people why??? there seems to be a slight incease in these sort of cases and it makes me very fearful for our beloved horses/ponies.

Has anyone actually clicked on the link?

PM has shown the foal killed itself by impaling itself on something, it's not a bullet wound. No one else is involved and neither the stud or the police are looking for anyone now.

What a horrible way to lose a foal though. And so tragic that in this day and age, someone shooting a foal was so believable.

I posted the link as soon as I found out about it. I was out for several hours afterwards seeing to my own ponies, and I found out when I got home at 9.20pm that the foal had in fact had a terrible accident and impaled herself.
My thoughts are with the foal and mare's owner. R.I.P Little Foalie and I hope Mum is coping alright with the loss of her baby.
Thank's everyone for the replies :).

Sorry to hear what happened to your pony but the HG Thread was updated with:

Thankfully all sorted and case closed
THE STUD HAS REQUESTED THAT THE POST MORTEM RESULTS OF THE FOAL FROM THE VETS HAVE REVEALED THAT THE FOAL WAS NOT SHOT BUT HAD A CLEAN DEEP IMPALING SO LOOKS LIKE THANKGOD THERE WAS NO ONE INVOLVED, THE VET WAS SUPRISED AS IT HAD LOOKED LIKE A SHOOTING WOUND ON EXAMINATION BUT FURTHUR TESTS PROVED THAT NOT THE CASE , SO ALTHOUGH VERY SAD IT IS A BLESSING THAT THERE IS NO ONE INVOLVED AND THEY WISH TO SEND THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THEIR KIND SUPPORT
