Foal update!

It's been a while, so I thought I'd give you guys a little update of how Alfie is getting on. (Previous thread: http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?687804-First-time-foal-owner!)

I've owned Alfie for just a little under a month and a half now and the whole time it's been a pleasure.

We've conquered all the basics of leading (forward, circles, turning, backwards, standing etc), tying up, trotting in hand, rugging, leg washing, being introduced and turned out with his 17.2, 17, 16.1hh field mates, being led away from his 'herd', standing for the farrier and sprays! He has been an absolute angel and he's not put a hoof wrong. It's actually a little worrying how well behaved he is!

He's coming up for a year old on March 23rd and is standing at 14hh as of last night.

He's gorgeous. So pleased he's behaving well. The rising 3 year old here has been very well behaved generally, but is currently going through a stroppy teenage phase, especially with the farrier. No fun when he's around 17 hands. He behaves fine with me on my own, but with other people around he turns into a thug.

He is so lovely and obviously being a very good boy, I have just read your previous thread and seen his an Oldenburg what is his breeding? I only ask as I have an Oldenburg mare she has always been a pleasure to be around too.

He's by Ampére who's a KWPN, his dam is an Oldenburg called Linguistic by Ed Gals GP Stallion Ling

How big is he supposed to end up? I don't think he will ever have a big head as his ears aren't very big and they don't really grow. I think he will grow into a stunning horse.

He's due to make 16.2. His dam is 16.2 and his sire is 16.3. I'm hoping he'll be bigger than 16.2 due to the fact that I'm 5'8'' (all legs!)

Disney had diddy little ears till he was about 2yo, but they're quite a good size now.
