Foals being loose jumped

I realise its each to their own, but think about what we do in the UK

Here you have a picture of a foal loose jumping, under what circumstances we dont know. However go look at the BYEH 4yr old final, some of the top horses are easily jumping 3ft - 4ft, doing flying changes etc and look to very well developed. To get them looking that well established how young are they being started.....all that doesnt come from nowhere and normally takes a fair amout of time

Most horses when introducing to jumping tuck there feet up well and bascule properly as it is a completely new experience and they dont want to get 'eaten' by the poles! They would have to jump a foal a fair few times until it relaxes over fences to get any true idea of its ability.

*sigh* the world has gone mad

I would have to disagree because ive seen foals loose jumped at a couple of studs in the UK and less than half showed a good technique over a pole of the ones I saw but its each to their own, believe me if I thought the studs in question were harming their foals in anyway I would report them, but the foals seemed quite happy and they did it once or twice with each foal about 4/5 times over the small fence each time in a secure manege.
