Chambon, Delphipuppy?

I have only just noticed that Isabellas eyes aren't exactly brown, or blue either. They are a kind of grey/green colour. So, at 3 months old will her eyes change to brown still or are they likely to stay this colour? The other palomino has normal dark brown eyes, so is this a genetic thing?

I remember Tia saying that Breeze had different colour eyes too.

Fuzzy shot, cropped and enlarged, but you can see that they aren't blue, or brown.

Good question Enfys....and one that I was trying to find the answer to with Breeze. Breeze has silver/green eyes - I've never seen a horse with this colour of eyes before so wanted to know what happens to them and if they change colour.

Breeze's mother and father have deep brown eyes and there is no history of blue or silver eyes in the pedigree.

That's it then! We will both have to trawl all these colour sites again, maybe they aren't palominos after all, but creams or champagnes (as I think you mentioned) in disguise.

How are Breeze and Golden?

Mine are mowing the lawn which has gone green overnight after spectacular storms in the early hours, their coats are changing (is this early for here?) and getting that dull, velvetty look, 15C and I have socks on, I'm cold! How bad is that!

Champagne was the colour I was thinking of.

I am cold too. We must be having the rain you have already had - it is the first time for months we have had rain and I have to say it is blissful! I hope my grass turns green too.

Breeze and Golden are doing really well. I'm awfully pleased with them. Golden has remained sound and is shedding weight like there is no tomorrow, for which I am thankful. Breeze is a lot of fun - her and Legacy have become good friends now.

What height is Isabella now?

I'll go and look at my foals now and get back to you. I would think they will go darker, but who knows I have given up saying things always happen because there is exceptions to every rule!

Back in a min!!

Ok have been to have a look, Douglas who is 1 month old has dark blue eyes. Darcy the eldest at 4 months has dark blue going brown eyes.
I don't think yours can be champagne as I believe this is a different gene. It is only possible for them to be cream if they have got a cream gene from each parent, so both parent would need to be single or double dilutes.

I have had a cream filly and she had bright blue eyes but she was born with a champage coloured coat however this went cream very quickly.

Palominos can have varying shades of brown eyes, Krystal has mid brown eyes whilst Derek has darker brown eys.

Hope I haven't totally confused you!

Pictures Tia? I am glad that Golden is doing better now, maybe this cooler weather is a relief, I know mine are happier and the most vicious bugs seem to have gone away at the moment. Except for those blasted flies!

Isabella was 44" a couple of weeks ago. Ohhhhh, I've had really good news about registering her, apparently, and I have this on the highest CAHR authority, she can be registered with her Sire stated as Grade. I have also been told that I should hang on to her for a bit (no hardship) as she could also be graded as a Canadian Sports Pony.

delphi, how many foals have you got now? If your absolutely gorgeous stallion suddenly shrinks, gets lighter and develops an enormous back end it means I have swapped him overnight for mine!

Thankyou for running out and checking eyes! Your foals must wonder what you are up to!

Isabella is only 3 months old so there is plenty of time for them to change, I am pretty certain she is palomino, Mum is bay (although had a grey sire to confuse the matter), Dad was a very pale, pale palomino, I could see a blaze on him though, I don't remember noticing if his skin was pink though, and I think, actually, his eye (yes, he was one eyed) was blue, so maybe that had something to do with it.
I'd say she was palomino wouldn't you?

But Breeze's eyes are most definitely not blue - they are silver with a green tinge to them.....have you seen this before?

That's wonderful news about Isabella - are you still planning to sell her? Or have you changed your mind?
