I got a book about making your own horse clothes and although it's helpful, it doesn't tell me what foam I need to go inside the numnah ( I presume it's foam?)

Just wondered if you could help? :)

Sheet foam about 1cm thick is ideal but a bugger to work with, when you quilt the saddle blanket it grabs the sewing machine needle - best needle I found to use was a canvas or denim needle.

I would consider using felt - this is in the shims in Mattes correction pads and may be in the actual numnahs, and years ago I had a wonderful Kieffer numnah which had felt in it - very stable and shock absorbing. Might be easier to machine sew as well!
