follow on from XC boot thread.

I do low level dressage SJ and XC. I plan to go no higher than 3ft-1m SJ and XC no higher than 90cm.

What boot would you suggest for a twiggy legged TB?

What I currently have:

Dressage - Caldene brushing front and hind (rubs badly behind)
SJ - Rhinegold leather tendon and fetlocks. Overreachers
XC - I just used brushing boots (woof) all round. Overreachers

I am concerned my twiggy TB may do herself a harm as she progresses in all 3 disciplines. What would you suggest for a low level rider/horse?

I'm at the same level as you, but planning to do BE100 next season and maybe higher. I have the new PE air-cooled boots all round for xc and I love them, but I also like the prolites.
But I have seen plenty of people stick with brushing boots for xc, it justbdepends how careful/how much money you are willing to part with!!

I use the PE air cooled mainly because PE are the only boots that fitted Spider Legs. According to their chart he should wear medium (being 16.1) but the Large (upto 17hh) are only just long enough, but I can tighten them enough to stop them slipping :)

I got some OXY Woof Wear Tendon Boots for my WB, but they came with special "TB inserts" which are nice extra pads for twiggy TBs! I really like them (though my guy doesn't need the extra inserts!)

You cant beat 'club' brushing boots from woof. they last forever and cover all the essential bits. the trizone 'airlite' range looks impressive although I cant say I have tried them myself

I have some Premier Equine 'Xtreme Original' eventing boots. I really rate them. PE is very helpful, if you rang them up (or even just posted on their new FB page) and asked about some of the boots they'd be more than happy to help. From searching on here they're apparently suited to finer legs anyway, so they should fit the twiggy tb :p

I personally wouldn't XC at any level without boots designed for the job. Solid fences + twiggy leggs without adequate protection = disaster IMHO.

I LOVE prolites (found some cheap ones in a BINOBO on ebay which I could post a link to if anyone wants - think they end tonight), like NEW and PE and actively dislike dalmars.

I always just used brushing boots for xc (woof wear club boots) as we only do low level stuff. But after ripping the boots to pieces and taking the skin off the leg underneath by hitting a fence with his back legs i now always use xc boots. Have the trizone allsport ones at the moment.
