for everyonewho has read and replied to my post last night and today thank you so much.
he finishes antibiotics mon, i will then get him blood tested in 2 weeks and if there is a tumour will have him pts.
i dont want to put him through anymore if it is a tumour.
i dont want to watch him wasting away, he owes me nothing and deserves more than that.
if he gets worse before he gets tested for tumour then i think he will get pts.
i have thought long and hard and he comes first , he is sooo special to me but i dont want to keep him alive for me , that wouldnt be fair on him.-
 
I know how hard the decision is. I had a TB with a tumour and had him PTS after 7 years of it. Originally he had been given two years but lasted a lot longer mostly as a pet. The tumour was by his girth so as it grew he couldn't be ridden. I had discussions with the vet beforehand and he told me I would know when the time was right and he was right. The week he was put down was a beautiful sunny week in Feb. He had been lying down the whole time I was doing his stable in the evening and when he stood up he would put his leg up under his tummy and just stand there. The last few days he really perked up. The day he was put down he watched me walk out of the yard whinnied quietly. It was like he was saying goodbye. He never whinnied normally. He was PTS the day after valentines day. I couldn't be there as I'm a teacher but my OH was with him. He was only 14 (diagnosed at 7) and the most special character - so gentle and trusting. I have never met another horse with such a fantastic personality. I have a lovely video of my 18month old daughter feeding him carrots toddling round his legs. Best of luck - you will know what to do. I didn't want my boy to go as an emergency in the middle of the night.
