I have been perusing the xmas wishlist thread with interest as my parents are starting to ask for an xmas list from me and I have no ideas aside from 1 pair of breeches! :o. Ive been a very lucky girl and had a horsebox built for me which arrived last week :D:D courtesy of the mare forgetting how to travel in a trailer (THANKYOU! clever pony!!) and since I am still wrapped up in delight over it and excitement over my hopeful purchase of a 2 yr old subject to vetting tomorrow I cant even begin to think what I could possibly need/want to go on my xmas list.

So essentially Im wondering if there are any of your past horsey-related purchases that you still rave about and think are fab to maybe give me some ideas for what to ask for for Xmas and hopefully wont be disappointed in since it will have been reviewed by H&Hers!! Anything from rugs, lotions and potions, numnahs, horse boots, tack room stuff, mucking out equipment, stable stuff, magic brushes etc is game! :D Hopefully we can all get ideas about things which we dont necessarily need but would be very helpful or lovely to look at/use and dont even nneed to spend our own money on!! :D:D
SO WHAT ARE YOUR "CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT/ADORE" PRODUCTS? :D

hmm also a recommendation for a big wheelbarrow which works well is easy to use and lasts well would be really appreciated as ours keep dying! what a lovely xmas pressie! ;):)

I have a Musto long coat I got for passing my GCSE's I'm now 31 and it's still going strong and I love it to death!
I also have a pair of full length suede chaps, they were made to measure but for someone else who never came to collect them so they were in the bargin bin at my local saddlers, they fitted me perfectly! Again I was about 16 and I've worn them constantly every winter since they are sooo toasty warm.
In a similar vein I've got a pair of fur lined KyraK gloves which are another winter essential and about 12 years old too.

ariat devon pro lace-ups for summer, with their gaiters. really snug and lovely to ride in.
ariat grasmeres for winter. i don't think i could bear winter without these. toasty toes guaranteed.
fleece-lined musto coat. not very waterproof any more but still the warmest coat i own.
berghaus down bodywarmer. years old and still absolutely brilliant.
sealskinz gloves for winter, need to find them actually...
ummm, wheelbarrow - i have a huge green two-wheeled tipping one, very stable, but easy to tip forward, i can drop a whole bale in the bottom of it. it is amazingly useful but too heavy and wide to get up a muckheap ramp, that's the only thing. ditto the blue one with two wheels at the front... not as stable as you think, impossible to push up a skinny ramp! i can check the make of the green one, it's french, had it years and it's still impressive.
additionally: Kerrits Sit Tight Supreme 'riding tights' for winter - mega-sticky-bums, very warm, totally flexible. love them.
Wolf garten hand rake for poo-picking and mucking out stables, a little godsend!

my North Face body warmer, it's sooooo warm. Also my dubarrys and dubarry liners, my feet are never cold in these. had them 4 years almost, worn them for everything (hiking, riding, walking etc..) and still going strong even though they look 20 year old. (i never polish or clean them, oops) :)

Umm my horse! (he was an Xmas present :p).
Other than that my thermatex rug I suppose and my current saddle! I've had A LOT of saddles, new ones, old ones, very expensive ones and cheap ones and my current saddle just suits me and my horse down to the ground, it puts me in the perfect position and is so comfortable I love it!
I also love my prolite headpiece, I can strap it on to any bridle and it's so comfortable for my horse.
My ariat boots, I use them like wellies and they are great.
An old Saxon fleece that seems to have lasted for years and is so versatile, I stick it under rugs, on it's own, it gets filthy and has been washed a 1000 times and is still useful. Best £19 I've ever spent :p.
A sheepskin numnah, 20 years old and still going strong :).

thanks kerilli the name of the barrow would be much appreciated as I luckily dont have to go up a ramp to the muckheap its all gravel/concrete and flat, and good tip-ability is very handy :). Ahh yes I have one of those unstable blue ones its even more unstable atm since a wheel fell off again! :(. Tip to make them more stable is to fix an X of metal flat bars; from top of one leg to bottom of other and vice versa stopped ours from falling over on us so much when it has wheels!! :D. Those jodders also sound rather handy :).

the clothes comments have reminded me that I need a pair of warm wellies and another pair of gloves I cannot remember what they are called but they are neoprene-ish and fab for riding and yard work in winter as not bulky :) will dig them out tomorrow so the xmas list has a start now!

I have dubarries but find my toes get cold and damp so may add liners to my xmas list if they will keep my feet warm and dry!

I too really love my thermatex :)

After reading so many good reports about Muck Boots on here last winter, 'Santa' bought me some. Threw my Hunters in the bin, wouldn't be without my Muck Boots again. Lovely and warm. Would definitely recommend. 'Santa' is now getting hints on sealskinz (sp?) gloves.

heh heh :) I wonder if theres anywhere I could buy one of those....making one seems like a much too long investment for reward! that said my cousin's little lad whose only 4 always insists on "helping" mucking out and chores, he even has his own little fork! adorably cute. train them young :D!.. on a serious note you're lucky to have such a helpful teenager! :)

My ariats - I'd never buy anything else now. I wore my paddock boots to death (literally) and they lasted 2.5years!

I have a second hand Belstaff jacket, that has seen me through some seriously cold winters!

7 day mud away - brilliant stuff :D

My yard godsend is our rug driers, I love them! We couldn't have easily got by the last few hard winters and two rugged horses without them. I know not everyone is lucky enough to have running elec at the stables, but if you do I thoroughly recommend these!

I'm a bit of a rug freak and in general break out in a cold sweat if neddy has to wear a rug I don't like (I'm a bit OCD!) so to that end top of list would be my Rambo's and Bucas rugs.

Other than that, random little bits I swear by
- snow shovel
- lavendar wash
- impuls spurs
- rubber mitt with little bobbles on - great for removing mud on sensative bits and also good for bathing (don't you hate having to remove shampoo from your sponge?!)
- baby wipes - used for everything!
- equibites, the neddies love them
- ariat bromonts

Pikeur winter breeches, muck boots, musto full chaps, sealskin gloves and a decent woolly hat for me!

And a school that doesn't freeze!!

It might sound stupid but I can't live without the hitching mirror I bought for on the trailer!!! It saves me so much messing about getting the towbar lined up :D !!!

Echo the rubber mitt thing ihatework - my very sensitive mare would be impossible to groom in winter without one.
Eqyss detangler - helps keep the mud out of their manes before we switch to full neck rugs.
Also love my Thermatex - tho youngster has to make do with a full neck fleece as he is such a thug - can't afford a second Thermatex only for him to destroy it!
Luxury item - Ariat blingy belts, keep my top tucked in my jeans and cheer me up if it's a miserable day.
Furry trapper hat - was a life saver last winter when our turnout was too wet to use and I was standing in the cold grazing the mare in hand!

Some really good suggestions :) i was looking at rugdriers but since having solarium lighting put in i thought i might rig up something to put them on underneath the lights to give the uber soggy ones a good blast!

Some products on here have been repeated several times which is always a good sign :) my only issue with jodders & boots is getting the damn thing long enough!

Bought a 2 yr old today subject to vet on thurs *fingers crossed* so will hopefully have one rather large pre-xmas stocking present although its a present to myself! Appropriately her passport name is Wonderland! (no winter in front of it tho :/) :D

Ditto the muck boots, I never get cold feet even with the thinnest pair of socks
Petzl head torch for hands free light

Ornella waterproof breeches.... i've only had mine for a month, but cannot imagine how i lived without them!! wonderful things

A really wide flat sledge.... brilliant last winter for dragging hay about in all that snow!!

Empty xlint buckets..... they hold about 30L water, so great in the winter when all the auto drinkers froze!

can't think of much else... sure there are loads though!!

Ariats....generally!! Particularly my bromonts that I compete in, and my mudbuster wellies. Cannot believe how much better they are than my hunters were in terms of warmth grip and comfort! I love my Dubarrys but am trying to keep them away from mucking out.
Fleece headbands also a winner - prevents hair from smelling 'horsey' post morning muck outs!
Sealskins gloves for yard work. Amazing things - couldn't get over the waterproof thing - kept sticking hand in frozen trough to prove it!!
Decent winter coat - think that's going on my wish list, probably looking at a knee length one this time for max weather protection!!

My Ariats, fleece headbands, my rambo chaps.
My biggest indulgeance aside from my boy though is probably the Equissage. Love it to pieces!!! It goes everywhere Monty goes. Cuts our beginning of exercising aruguments from 30 mins to 5!!

Think i'm going to be really extravagant this year though and ask santa for a new pair of full seat breeches... my favourites are about to die after 10 years :-(
xx

I absolutely love my sheepskin seat saver. Can't remember what make it is but was bought for me by my sister. Justso snug for my bottom! Rode without it the other day and noticed the difference.
Also big fan of Amigo rugs. Have got a light and middle weight. Great fit for my girl and a good price.
This time of year my waterproof trousers are a must. Just got mine from cornwall farmers and are by Dickies. Nothing fancy but essential.
Oh and also my Nuumed hi wither sheepskin saddlecloth. Was reccommended to me by the chiropractor who sees to my horses back. She uses them on her horses. Nice and comfortable for them and keeps really well. Had mine for around 3 yrs now and still as good as new.

My Musto fleece lined jacket and chaps - had them for over 10 years and they still do the job from autumn until spring.

Equitector boots - as the owner of a large grey elephant whose brain is a long way from her feet I never go near her without them on (and the one time I did I ended up with a broken toe ;).

My Wintec Isabell Werth saddles. Finally I found something that both me and the horses were comfortable in.

My massive blue hay soaking bin. For soaking said elephant's equally massive haynet in without having to wrestle it into a dustbin.
