Well, after yesterdays shananigans of me completely going to pot with nerves, a rather sleepless night contemplating, I went up the yard with guns ablazing. Nothing was going to stop me riding my boy out. With a bit of PMA I tacked up and rode the route I took yesterday, where he napped and I turned into a sack of potatoes. I rode him forward, gave him a good old grrrrrrrrr when he thought about stopping and went past the 'spot' that caused me problems yesterday.

We went on to have the most fabulous ride, all the time thinking about what you guys had said, particularly the advice about not worrying about what might happen but thinking about what he was doing at that moment. Archie, being Archie, was being his usual, wonderful self.

We crossed several fields and my boy, as always, did not take advantage of a wide open space ... he truly looks after me but then I suspect he realises I look after him too. We poodled along, his breath warming the air and it was magical. I am so, so lucky.

Thanks to all who give me encouragement. I suffer terribly with self doubt and nerves and you lot really do get me through the bad times.

To those of you who suffer terribly with nerves, take a deep breath, think positive thoughts and remember the happy times. To take my mind off things today, stupid as it may sound, I stuffed my mouth full of mints and it seemed to help

But when Costco sell them in packs of 40 for £10 and they're gone by 4 weeks you begin to fear for your teeth..
