Since I'm not riding and won't have anything to hunt this season I'm seriously considering following on foot. I presume I'll still need to talk to the secretary but would they be able to 'tag' me on to someone for my first few visits until I get the hang of what's required etiquette wise? Or, just to be cheeky, anyone on here mind me tagging along with them?

Foot/car following is great fun, if not on your own. You often get to see more hunting than when mounted. Yes speak to the secretary, bring some alcohol and chocolate biscuits and I am sure you will be a very welcome passenger in someone's wagon!

Have you thought about beagling? Beagling is proper hunting. As far as etiquette is concerned I'm not convinced our local pack has any :)

I've been a footy for years! There is not much ettiquette!

Just do NOT park on grass verges, get stuck in puddles or anything else generally annoying!

I used to get dropped off, spend the day thumbing lifts and get picked up in the arvo! Coffee, alcohol and biccys are essential!

And do ask a secretary! Turns out mine was an avid foot follower and knew all the right cars to thumb lifts with!! Spent many a hunt in the woods with her and two terriermen listening to hounds!! Beautiful!
