so, after my post the other night about bricking it about doing a first jump, report as follows
so before we got horses in we went into the school and fiddled about with the jumps in there, as my friend who has no fear was jumping too. so we put 3 jumps at about 2'6 in there (our school isn't that big) and a teeny tiny x-pole for me as well, it was probably only about 6 inches high (to jump on a 16.1 ISH
)
so tacked up, and it took me about 10 mins to do the throat strap on bridle cos my hands were shaking so much (earlier in the day i was physically sick just thinking about it) and my YM had to tighten my girth and do my stirrups cos i just couldn't do it.
so warmed up, walk and trot was all fine, decided on a corner to ask for canter and just before said corner i suddenly pulled up and burst into tears
couldnt even bear to ask her to canter for me, so pathetic i know but there it is.
eventually got going again, cantered both ways (she felt really strong in the second canter but it was probably my nerves and she wasnt really going anywhere) so then i trotted up to this tiny x-pole, and lo and behold, she did 2 canter strides and flew over
and i didn't cry again either, did pull up shaking like a leaf, but she was perfect
then i asked my friend to hop on and do something a bit more interesting for her, so she hopped on and did the bigger jumps, and horsey nearly jumped her off lol, she enjoyed it so much.
didnt get pics i'm afraid as hubby didn't want to come up yard with me, so maybe i'll get some next time (if there is one!) so do u guys think now i should pop a small jump at the end of every session?? just so i get used to doing it again?? or is there anything else i should do instead?? suggestions MOST welcome
