so, after my post the other night about bricking it about doing a first jump, report as follows :o

so before we got horses in we went into the school and fiddled about with the jumps in there, as my friend who has no fear was jumping too. so we put 3 jumps at about 2'6 in there (our school isn't that big) and a teeny tiny x-pole for me as well, it was probably only about 6 inches high (to jump on a 16.1 ISH )

so tacked up, and it took me about 10 mins to do the throat strap on bridle cos my hands were shaking so much (earlier in the day i was physically sick just thinking about it) and my YM had to tighten my girth and do my stirrups cos i just couldn't do it.

so warmed up, walk and trot was all fine, decided on a corner to ask for canter and just before said corner i suddenly pulled up and burst into tears :( couldnt even bear to ask her to canter for me, so pathetic i know but there it is.

eventually got going again, cantered both ways (she felt really strong in the second canter but it was probably my nerves and she wasnt really going anywhere) so then i trotted up to this tiny x-pole, and lo and behold, she did 2 canter strides and flew over :D and i didn't cry again either, did pull up shaking like a leaf, but she was perfect :D

then i asked my friend to hop on and do something a bit more interesting for her, so she hopped on and did the bigger jumps, and horsey nearly jumped her off lol, she enjoyed it so much.

didnt get pics i'm afraid as hubby didn't want to come up yard with me, so maybe i'll get some next time (if there is one!) so do u guys think now i should pop a small jump at the end of every session?? just so i get used to doing it again?? or is there anything else i should do instead?? suggestions MOST welcome :D:D:D

Congrats bet you feel on top of the world and one persons 6 inches is anouther 4 foot

I used to be the same still am to a degree and yes left jumps up in school and used to pop one each time I rode and slowly then began to look small and I started to think you numpty they are not even jumps get on with it.

I also found that schooling around them made them boring to the horse and the norm, rather than whoop whoop jumps are out

she does like to approach her fences quite quickly, though she may be going slower than she feels!! should i just let her go on at her own speed and find her own stride, or should i make her do it really slowly how i like?

my friend who rode her after me liked her though, and likened her to a machine, point and go :D

thanks for your support :)

That's brilliant and really well done (and thank you Sherbert for bumping!). I think popping a tiny cross pole regularly is a great idea or do you have anysmall logs or similar you could pop over out hacking? :)

So pleased that you did it, only you can make the decision if you want to carry on but you did it this time and I for one am proud of you :-))

thank u so much guys, there will definitely be a post with a video this eve as have managed 2 convince hubby to spend an hour watching me!! when i pointed out the jump i did to him yesterday he said 'surely u can do better than that??!!' he did nearly get a black eye ;)
