A good quality brown bridle to black with something that would not leak if it got wet??? THe reason I ask is found a dressage saddle to fit podge pony, but his bridle is brown and it fits him really well and I am loathe to get rid of it as its the wrong colour but not sure I could go in the ring odd coloured!!

Have images in my head currently of lovely black bridle, then rain, then bay pony turning into leaking black mess of black dye!!! Any ideas????

just buy another one of the cheap varity! if pony and saddle are for keeps sell the brown one and buy a decent black one! i personally hate black tack!

yep, put black dye into neatsfoot oil, and oil your tack until it is black enough

Works well imo

Black tack is great imo - it will always match whereas there are various shades of brown

I used some leather dye (Dylon I think it was in a green box) and it was great. A tiny amount came out the first time i rode afterwards (I had a white grey!) but has been fine ever since and that must have been 4-5 years ago!
