Following on from driving a 7.5 tonne yesterday..

Ok so my dad still wont let this lie! Typical he gets a bee in his bonet and will not let it lie!

So can someone find something that explains, the issue of needing to od passed your test by X date to beable to drive a 7.5 tonne without a further test.

Have looked on DVLA but its confusing me and dont think im on the right page!

Get your OH's Driving License and show him that. On it he won't have the entilement to drive over a 7.5t. He needs the letter C.

You need your Class C HGV *I think* to drive a 7.5 tonner, but need to check dates for you...hold on...

Not C, you need C1, but he wont have that post 1997. Nor B+E, which your dad will have. Mine now has

B - 06.05.99 (car, always has had)
BE - 01.12.04 (car plus trailer, having taken my trailer test)
B1 - 06.05.99 (up to 3.5 ton lorry, always has had)
C - 26.02.07 (rigid HGV, after taking HGV licence)
C1 - 26.02.07 (3.5 to 7.5t, after taking my HGV licence)

Licence issued 06.05.99!
