Where do you stand if a potential customer actually comes off your horse?
just wondered - as i have fallen off a horse whilst trying it

but it was not knowing the horse well enough so it was my fault ( i picked myself up - got on and was going to have it til it failed the vet!)
i accepted that it was my fault - but would others?

It seems that selling horse is a nightmare - ive had some totally inappropriate people calling about my novice - and im now scared to let anybody try him after Piaffes and other HHO users experiences.

I've no idea but I do know that when we went to see a 14.1 Welsh Section D jumping pony he had had a dozen other interested customers off. No-one had stayed on him. When we viewed him he didn't dump either my VERY novice daughter or me. Whether this was because we were the only people to actually spend any time talking to him - apparently everyone else just wanted to get on and see how big he'd jump, or whether it was because my daughter was SO novice that she didn't try to take control I don't know. I do know we got him for meat money because they didn't think they'd ever sell him

my oh was trying out a "good hunter but can be nappy hacking on his own" horse last year in a school when it stopped dead at the gate

he gave it a kick and it launched into bucking bronco mode

He lasted 4 bucks before being thrown so high in the air he came down across the saddle and broke his ribs

We are still looking but now he wont get on until he has seen me on them first

If he's insured, I'd phone the insurance and ask.

I really hope he finds a good home as he looks so fantastic

Good luck Vicki

They can sue you ! - it's ridiculous. Under the Animals Act it's strict liability so it means you are responsible for the actions of your horse even if it was out of your control. i.e. if he jumps out of a field and there is a collision with a car you are liable, or if someone is riding him and they get chucked off - you are still liable. There have been quite a few recent cases where people have sucessfully sued the owner under the Animals Act. We had a seminar about it at work recently - apparently it's in the nature of the horse !! No wonder people are worried.
