I was told (by an instructor who I very much respect) that to find a replacement for my old boy (RIP) I would have to pay £20k equivalent on the continent. The love of my life cost me the princely sum of £3k and was priceless to me :)

A horse on my yard she is a star. People really wanted to buy her and they said to the owner they would give her a blank cheque to put their amount down to buy her.

She is still on our yard didnt sell her. No money could replace her.

i got offered £10k for my 6yo IDxTB. Schooling leaves alot to be desired, not great conformation but a heart of gold most of the time, a nice sturdy horse who'll jump BSJA

I only paid £4.5k for him - and i thought THAT was overpriced

I once got offered £4000 for mine, I'd only paid £1800 6 months before - but I knew by then, she is going to be with me for the rest of her natural so that was that! Not an insane amount I know but it made me feel pretty good!

I know someone who was offered £120k for their horse about 3 months ago....and refused it

The same horse fell in his stable a couple of months later and fractured a bone in his foot. He's been at Newmarket ever since and has a less than 50% chance of ever being ridden again
