Which way do you prefer to use to clean tack?

I prefer using water to clean the tack and then soap it with a good old traditional bar of saddle soap.

special spray with hot water, then Effax. i can't be bothered with trying to work a bit of soap off an old-fashioned bar of saddle soap, it takes too much effort. Effax is like room-temperature butter, very easy to spread!

Effax every time. Much the best (along with some other leather balsams) for your leather tack.

This may sound daft, but i bought some effax last week, how do you put it on? I've been slapping it on with a new dishcloth and working it in is this the best way? T

I use baby wipes on the saddle (it's synthetic) and water and some glycerin based amber gloop in a gold tub with a white lid on the bridle (lost the label so don't know what it is).

An old rag or piece of cloth does the job for me. You can't really clean the rag afterwards though so be prepared to lose it forever more...

Grand Prix Leather Gloss for me as well. Wonderful stuff. I also use Effax as a dressing on the seat of the saddle - the non-slip properties are brilliant before a competition.
