The OP was upset because the commentators referred to horses as 'it'.

She then admitted to being 'a horse hugger'.

So what do you think is the definition of a 'horse hugger'?

I think that the poster felt that it showed a lack of respect to the horse to refer to it as 'it'. However, they missed the point that it was a collective 'it', and had the horse been stood in front of the comentators it would have been referred to by its name or gender.

My definition of a horse hugger is anyone who loves horses. So that's all of us. It's attitudes that differentiate us, rather than labels.

Really DD, I'm not sure what I have done to offend you. But please, just wind it in a little. My post wasn't a criticism or an attack, just an observation. As for big gun - hardly.

My final suggestion to you would be, that as you seem to dislike the forum so much, perhaps think of other places you'd prefer to post.

Alec, the practical side of fluffy is a paradox that can never occur. I prefer horse lover meaning someone who respects and loves their horses. Fluffy is something we all do and has a sliding scale of severity sliding from pink hair extensions for horses and a refusal to speak to your horse in anything less than an octave above normal speaking tone down to the mere desire to ensure your equine shampoo enhances your horses colour (off which I have way way too many types ) so is something else to enjoy in the equine world :-)

Having watched this forum over the last couple of days I have to say I am saddened that certain posters seem to have grudges and are going from thread to thread hounding and abusing people.

DD or whoever you are in this incarnation your going to be banned just shortly and really you haven't gotten your own back on these 'big guns' you have just shown yourself to be a wally of the highest order.

I have no quarrel with you or anyone but really what you are doing is not pleasant to watch or read :(

Interesting response. I don't know you, and this wasn't a 'pointed' thread merely an interested one having read just the first post you made.

And you seem very aggressive towards AmyMay

Stick her on UI if she bores you so much, DD. Although most of us if bored would not bother to comment.

Please try and get out more !!

I apreiciate that you are a "Big Gun " of the forum ....
But honey , you bore me big time

I'm not quite sure how you have gone from making a point about horses being called "it" to being so rude to people on the forum?

The fluffy side of practical

I find this interesting...

I call myself mommy, I will always put my horse first, but I'm practical, I'm seen as the hardest person on my yard in some ways, I de rug before the others, I let my horse get muddy and don't keep him like a sparkling Barbie, he is most definitely allowed to be a horse. At the same times I am strict he isn't allowed to misbehave, he can express himself but bad manners is a no no.

For me bunny huggers are those who pander to their horses, explain away bad manners as horsey behaviour, and argue against anything that may be slightly uncomfortable for the horse even when it's probably in the best interest of the horse or horses in general.

They wear rose tinted glasses towards their horse, horses, or the current state of the equestrian industry just so they don't have to face reality. And for those who don't share their view, gypsies are all neglectful horse beaters, all international show jumpers use hedgehog skins, all international dressage riders use rolkeur and all dealers well see gypsies and add dopers to the mix...

Best pony hugger I ever met used to have two of every rug in two colours. Each day she would bring rugs out and the horse would choose its colour for the day. Apparently it rolled less when it liked the colour. I just used to nod and smile and back away slowly !

im afraid that the poster has been posting since the beginning of April according to her posting log.

Also another member who this poster has been rude to is friendly with DeliciousD so i dont think this poster is that person but does seem to have an agenda. Have hinted on the other thread to let it go but not on the uptake.

Let's face it - with all these unpronouncable names from the continent with more vowels than you can shake a stick it - you can't tell from a name the gender of the horse so IT fits quite well!

They do have commentary sheets though for each horse and rider. The gender will be on there. I am glad they are now giving the breeding, at least the sire - now we just need to get them to give the dam too! It is at least a step in the right direction. There was one channel who used to flash up the name of the horse, gender, breed, breeder and owner. It "may" have been H&C years ago when they did different events.
