Following on from the bedtime post - who shares a bed with their dog ?

Apart from the odd time where I'm ill or very down in the dumps I do not share my bed with my dogs. I can't think of anything worse than every night in bed with my dogs - and believe me, I love them to death, but they aren't for the bedroom!
 
Nope he sleeps in his own bed... on the bedroom floor... As someone else pointed out, sharing your bed with one hairy, smelly, farting, duvet snatching creature is enough :-)

He does sometimes get invited onto the bed at weekends when we are having a lie in - but only by request and he only stays long enough for a stroke and a cuddle then climbs back into his own bed. He does get on the sofa - he will 'request' the first time he wants to get up by coming over, wagging his tail and putting his head on your knee but once you tell him he can, he then considers he's got license for the evening then :-)
 
Like Mollichop I am single so can do what I like!:D St Sweep has always slept on the bottom of my bed:eek: - although quite often out of choice will sleep under the bed as he gets soooooooooo hot. The Moo also sleeps at the bottom - he has mastered the art of making himself really small so he doesn't get booted off!:rolleyes::D

I have a cotton throw at the bottom that they sleep on which helps keeps it clean. As I live a mile from the village it can quite isolated especially if the farmer and his wife are away so the dogs make me feel safe.:D:D:D

My teacup chihuahua does but shes about the size of my foot so doesn't take up much room at all! I miss her when i don't stay at my house! (Is that sad!)
 
Until Prince came along, Stella shared our bed. Now the two of them are consigned to the lounge, largely because Stella felt she needed her privacy. I just lodge here, see, and don't want to interfere between the two squish-headed lovers :D

Charlie Brown sleeps on the bed. He needs to be touching me and likes a nice cuddle. At home in the week he sleeps under the duvet but at my OHs at the weekend he has to sleep on top of the duvet although he sometimes sneaks under on my side of the bed when OH is asleep. If OH is in a bad mood and says he can't sleep on the bed Charlie waits till OH is asleep and he sneaks on my side and we have a cuddle. I can't sleep if i don't have my small brown hot water bottle. LOL

The little one on the left in my sig used to all the time, because he was cold, but he used to annoy me because he kept moving. He would get in and walk down under the duvet trailing his wet nose down my leg, then lay right against it, ten minutes later he would be out on top , then back in.
After a while i started to get fed up with this so now he has a sleeping bag and bed along with the other one, but still in the bedroom.
he still tries sometimes to get in the bed, you hear a little whinge, and the duvet gets pushed up with his nose, and he sneakes in, if he lies quite i let him stay, if not he gets bannished back to his own, perfectly warm bed.
The other one would'nt even think about getting in the bed.
 
Not a chance - I like to sleep on the bed, not on the floor, and he's bad enough on the sofa with wriggling in behind and then stretching to push you off!

My bed is a dog free zone. I love getting into my fresh bed with nice white linen, I love my dog totally, but sorry, no dog in the bed.
 
At the moment he's sleeping in the same room as us [staying at Father in Laws, no room for his crate etc] but he was crated and WILL BE AGAIN as soon as we get back home.

He is quite good, to be fair and generally sleeps at the bottom of the bed on the floor although he did go through a stage of trying to push us both out the bed by getting between us and pushing. :rolleyes:

Can't wait to have a bed that doesn't smell doggy though :blush:

The trick to that is to keep both the dog and the bed clean :D

I have no doggie smells and he sleeps in bed every night whether I like it or not.

Can absolutely understand people not liking dogs on beds but as long as you keep bedding and dogs clean it's fine by me :)
 
LHS, I was just going to say the same thing, there are some lovely pics on this thread. Have to admit our 3 have the run of the house at night. When I lived alone I felt happier with them close by and my OH has been very understanding I have to say. Smurph curls up at the bottom of the bed, Rosie sleeps behind my pillow with her back to the headboard (although she usually gets down during the night and sleeps on the top stair) and Chloe, our new pup has just in the last week started to climb up on the bed with us, she has been in her crate on the floor until now. She likes to snuggle up next to Smurph and is very good at waking me with a wet nose in the face when she needs a wee. We bought a super king size so that we have room to spread out a bit. My dogs, spoiled,.. dont be ridiculous:)
 
Mine arent allowed upstairs as it is bad for them. But they love to be on the bed given half a chance! Hooch used to come up in our old house as we had no way of stopping her and she was really cuddly and once on the bed she didnt move but Tojo is just a fidget bum so we now dont allow the dogs up.Emma will never be allowed upstairs. I think it is better for all concerned with Mastiffs!
During the last year of Hooch's life she couldnt really get up or down the stairs easily so we stopped it anyway. During the last few days of her life I put a bed up downstairs so she could have a cuddle. :) She really was a cuddleable dog!:)
