does anyone clip all year round ?? and why ? does it work well ?

have no school so plan to hack my horse this winter and get her fit whilst i'm at college and then in summer move her to a friends yard (with a menage) to school her. however if it's as hot as this year i'd hate to work her with her coat on so would fully clip her and hose her down after.
or would it be best to leave her coat on and ride on a cooler days? (despite the fact it's baking for weeks...)

I do and know others that do. My boy is a hot horse and warm weather and riding him don't mix so he gets clipped whenever I feel he needs it. Have to give enough time between shows and uV protect in the sun.

thats my other issue-she gets UV sensitive and can come out in scabs on her white feather. i think her fly rug would protect her from such scabs but am unsure.
 
2 horses on our yard are clipped all year round, one because he gets hot when working and the other because he itches. They both wear fly rugs all summer and rain sheets if its wet.
 
I used to clip my coloured all year round, he had a thicker summer coat than some throw in winter! Was very hot and bothered. His fly rug did protect him from sunburn (very pink skin) I just had to be careful with him.

One year I struggled to clip him as he was running sweat he was so hot, bless.
 
one of the cobs on our yard was clipped this summer as she had more coat than BH grows in winter and was just baking hot all the time! She is black so UV not really much of an issue though. She must have felt tonnes better for having it all chopped off though. I couldn't believe how much fluff she had in June
 
I've been told by instructor to clip our cob out all year round as even when he's fit he sweats & he's lazy.....But he's a sod to clip & I have to have him sedated so he only gets done once a year :(!!
 
i have to clip mine 3 or 4 times a year (depending on how mucg i ride in the winter - weather dependant!). May and June my horses coat is lovely as his winter clip has long and his summer coat is through. However, come July his coat starts to get thicker and by Aug it starts to get a 'look' about it - like it's just hot looking, no shine etc. My horse gets a bit lethargic and actually gets a bit miserable in the field as to warm. (he does this head 'twitch' thing). So, i clip him! His coat (aftet a week or so) goes back to looking lovely and shiney and he, in himself has more energy and seems a lot more comfortable. He is a conn x TB, has a lovely golden dun coat but sadly he seems to inherited the connie coat as opposed to the TB. I have a feeling other people with duns have a similar issue re clipping, Ithink they can tend to have a coarse coat.
