Following on from the post on scars...

Do any of you have any fantastic tips for sorting out scars on horses? My neddy fratcured his splint bone badly in October and had to have standing surgery. Horsey is now fixed enough to be turned out in the field (although he isn't ready to come back into work yet) but he has got a pretty horrible scar on his hind leg with dry, crusty skin that looks to me to be very unlikely to grow back nice chestnut hair. Anyone got any tips that might help improve the condition of the skin or hopefully help the hair? I've tried cornucresine but so far without sucess

Aloe vera improved a scar on my old horse's knee from when she broke it.
Use either sap from the plant (lidl are selling them for £1.99 next week) or get some gel and put it on daily.

I use Green Oils gel on one of my mares who has extensive scarring (with very little hair in the areas) on her legs. It keeps the skin supple, without it the scars look flaky and like they are going to crack

Did you see the post in vet forum about proud flesh? There was a product recommended that I'm not familiar with but had lots of good reviews. Perhaps worth a look.
