every horse different - my loan mare settled in straight away, other horse was a bit jumpy to start with but generally OK but then we have a very settled relaxed set up with them living out 24/7 and can be seen from the house.
I think its all to do with the temperament of the horse....and how well they deal with change. I bet those horses who behave well at shows / hack out alone / dont get seperation anxiety are those that settle quickly....
