Im not convinced my cab is fully locked down. It was tilted a few weeks back to tighten the belts and is a manual tilt and is heavy. I helped mechanic push it back down but I have a feeling it hasnt locked back into place. The luton above prevents it going anywhere but just looking at it and it doesnt seem quite right, and there seems to be a small gap between the cab and the body around the cut through.
Is there a knack to it? Is there any detriment to it, if it hasnt caught. Theres a handle behind the drivers seat, that looks like its in the position it should be? We were going to have a go at openning it again and shutting it but its so heavy and not sure I know what Im doing re the lever.
Oh its an old Merc 814.

We picked our lorry up from being mended once. Drove onto the main road had to pull up a bit sharp and it tipped forward and we were looking at the road. It was terrifying. The garage blamed us saying the catch was faulty.

:eek::eek::eek:
That must have been awful!!
Thankfully mine has a Luton, it tilts through a flap at the front so Im hoping this and the bed above would prevent what happened to you happenning to me but I suppose with force it wouldnt.
Last time I drove it, I heard a bang above on uneven ground and I reckon it was the roof of the cab hitting the underneath of the luton. We are going to have to see if we can move it, then hopefully I will know for sure. I just dont know whether its supposed to click into place and lock or the lever needs putting into an 'open' positon when the cab is lowered, then moving to lock it down.
Ive tried googling to see if I can find any info with no joy.

I think this is another take it back to the mechanic job, like mine :) I do wonder how many 'normal' women spend part of sunday worrying about the tilt mechanisms on waggons :D

:):) ha ha
I keep thinking Im imagining it but I see things I never have before, as if things arent in align. Its daft really as surely it should be an easy thing to do but Im worried I will make things worse and end up with a cab that wont shut or something :o
