I wear a hat if I'm jumping or hacking (yard rules dictate that I have to) or if it's cold, but if I'm schooling and it's hot I don't. Likewise I wear a BP when I have too. It's personal choice, I'm more comfortable not wearing a hat when its hot, so I don't wear one. I do however insist that anyone I let ride my horse wears a hat, but that's more to do with concerns over insurance than anything else.
 
I know its very sad, someone I knew died suddenly and the sister donated the horses to HAPPA, they were 3 youngsters the oldes being rising 5, because they hadn't made provisions for them.
I would be the same about the ones that were to be kept, I wouldn't want them to face an uncertain future.
My animals are the best thing in my life too.
 
i have made provision for my horse in the event of my death and sometimes - if its very hot i CHOOSE not to wear a hat if im schooling.

and no, my hairstyle is not a consideration!!

ok then i think the answer is yes!! they just add a bit of protection, they are no inconnvenience.. ok they mess up my hair but who cares? it CAN be washed you CANT replace a head...

i always jump with body protector and generaly ride with one on just for more added protection! after all what would i do if i couldnt ride rosie posie!

Nothing personal, but having financial stability for your horses if you died is great. But what about emotional support for your kids? Would you want your kids wiping your backside after you got into a vegetable state? to sit and mop up your dribble for you for the next 50 years? Great life for them if your head got mashed/........
 
For me its personal choice. Its my responibility and i will accept my decision regardless of the result.
When out hacking i think it is important to wear a hat as the varlables are huge, hard roads and mad situations. In the school i frequently dont wear a hat and that was a comfort balance thing for me. I never get on an unknown horse or one of my babies without one but my older more established horses i dont.
It is my choice and i decide when and where i will do something. My younger clients are always told to wear a hat all my staff wear hats , gloves and decent footwear.When they are old enough or not my responsibility then they too can make their own choices.
