I have a new companion pony, from a friend, so I know he has been wormed in the past. She said you cannot worm him using a syringe, and he is a head shy and nervous boy. If you put it in his food he will generally eat it, but he is really fussy.
I am having the vet out over the next couple of weeks to give them both their tetanus and to do their teeth, can you worm them while they are sedated?

not when they are sleepy as they are not in proper control of their muscles and its possible that he will not be able to swallow properly. you may be able to do him when he is awake but only 95% back to himself though if you time it right. you may be better to speak to the vet and see what they reccomend because sometimes they do not want wormer drugs to be given at the same time as tetenus and sedation.

5 Day Panacur Guard liquid is palatable, which is just as well seeing as it has to fed for 5 days :rolleyes3:. My foster pony hoovered hers recently, and she is normally suspicious of new feeds. It has the advantage of dealing with encysted redworm, which is handy for this time of year.

I've never tried to mix Equest in feed, it stinks, doesn't it, so I can't imagine that it would go down well.

Yes you can do five day panacur and you can get these equimax tablets. The feed store will usually recommend the right ones. The tablet ones they'll eat or you can crunch up into feed. The panacur is meant to smell like apple but mine refused it. I tried adding honey but wouldn't touch it, so added some molasses!

ETA I recently had to do panacur and the tablets as they both don't do something or rather, worm wise!
