Had my welsh sec a for over a year now, haven't done much with her, earlier this year she was bitted and has been led out in hand - no probs really.
She has been treated bad in the past so can be a bit head shy and spooky
She turned 3 may this year and hoping to have her as a pony club pony for my daughter in the next couple of years.
Spent half hour in the rain today catching the naughty one - had to resort to 2 lounge lines clipped together then managed to get her between the fence and lounge line, was just doing up the head collar and wham - reared straight up at me! its a good job shes only 11.1 not 17.1!!! got her in and gave her a handful of chaff which she enjoyed. Proceeded to put her bridle on, and yep she reared again. Got it on, put the roller on all ready to long rein (its only her 2nd time) very very responsive, listened to everything i said and once she got the hang of things after about 5 mins she was doing everything from a voice command clever girl. Did about 15 mins, wlking and halting etc then i proceeded to take off the long reins, then she spooked then she got away around the pen and galloped around for 5 mins untill she skidded to a stop snorting - calmy removed the long reins and led her round in her roller for a bit untill she was relaxed then put her back out with her friends (all 3 other ponies which are all little devils to catch!)
