Just to be nosey really because im.always poor yet my friends alway say i do quite well considering.

Im 19,loan one horse atm(with view to buy), pay everything although on diy its quite expensive! Own and pay for own car/phone bill etc. Dont however pay mum rent as i cant afford it.
I work 4/5 days a week at a kennels on.min wage :(

I do want to move out and buy a new car and trailer then i thought about it and most adults in good jobs cant afford everything!

Soooo... Age,job(pay if u dont mind),horse/s, what do you pay etc...

Would be helpful as deciding on my future atm... E.g. Animal job & no money vs. Other job & money(hopefully)!

Somehow I am now 26, don't live at home, live in a large house with a friend (circumstances dictate no mortgage or rent, but the costs of running the house are very high) there is however land and room for a pony.

I have 1.5 horses and I am looking at getting another one next year, newer car, 4x4 and trailer as well.

I work full time in engineering and my personal salary is just over 20k a year. In addition I run my own online business to save for the things I want to do and buy, pay off student loan, buy the next horse, car, 4x4 and trailer.

In total I work about 55 - 60 hours a week, fitting it all in is hard and for the last year I only have about 5 hours sleep a night with the occassional long sleep slipped in each month. This has back fired though and I've been fairly ill for the past couple of weeks. The second job will go/reduce when the toys have been paid for.

27. Own my own car (no finance), work full time, have my own house, married (although he doesn't bring in anywhere near as much money as me). I have 2 dogs, 2 bearded dragons, a guinea pig an a horse to cope with!

Husband has a lot of debt from before I met him, however this is being managed now and something I knew about. I maxed my credit card out when getting my house so I owe a fair whack on that.

I manage to pay my mortgage, petrol, bills, feed myself and my pets, pay eidi's livery, and everything else she needs, BUT I don't end up with a lot of spare cash. I sacrificed my season ticket for my football to get her, I very rarely manage more than one night out a month...but that's my decision and one I'm happy with!

I do think you do very well. If you work part time and manage all that! I work full time, earn over £30k a year and I struggle towards the end of the month!

27 own my own car, two horses on DIY, live with OH.

I pay for my car, half the household bills and everything for my horses. We live somewhere pretty expensive so the rent is steep!

I earn £24000 a year and I am skint! I would love to buy a 4x4 and trailer but it isn't going to be soon. I did manage to save to do my trailer test though so I do at least have the license :)

I can break it down in more detail if you like as I have a spreadsheet

I'm nearly 24. Work full time as a marketing exec, earn 26k - rent a one bed house with my OH, pay food, bills, run a car etc.

No horse at the moment, saving to hopefully get one next year, and also trying to save a deposit for a mortgage.

Money is not that tight at the moment, mainly because I am not paying for a horse! but saving for a house deposit is important to me, and I don't like living hand to mouth anyway. OH and I don't live a very extravagant lifestyle either.

I do want a horse and getting one is very important to me, but I wanted to wait until I could comfortably afford it, rather than having one but needing to watch every penny, or not being able to move out from home.

23, living at home with my partner (currently saving for a house) I work as an instructor for just over the minimum wage and all my money seems to disappear within the first 4 days of pay day :( We have 1 dog, 2 cars, 2 horses. Thankfully my horses are also at home so no livery costs, but my side of the money goes on 5 lots of insurance, mobile phone contract, rent, shoeing etc, my dad is a life saver and pays for my car insurance but other than that I pay for everything. What little money is left at the end of the month (if any) is put into savings.

I am 31 have 2 school age kids a house and an OH. I work anything from 16 hrs to 40 hrs per week depending whats on split between 2 jobs per week, the work i do is physical hard work so end up drained after a 30+ hr week, i don't earn a great deal neither - OH is setting up a business so doesn't earn so things are tight. Outgoings are very low though with just the c/tax and mortgage to pay which is approx £500 per month plus food and other bits. Tax credits top up low earnings, OH is going to work full time after xmas (job all waiting) whilst setting up the business.
The children never go without.
Have own land so horses just cost me hard feed and hay throughout the winter, zilch in the summer apart from feet and wormers.
None have shoes all barefoot. I have 3.
If i/we need anything i just work extra hard to earn the money and save therefore avoiding loans!

I am 25 and live in a 2 bed rented house with my OH. I have worked with horses since I left uni but got fed up so started an administrative job in August and plan to work my way up. Combined we earn 430000 pa. We have the house, a car, a horsebox, 2 horses, 3 dogs and some debts to pay(student finances, credit cards) and a wedding next year, we make it work somehow. I do spend a lot of time checking my bank though

I'm 22 and a student but the NHS pay me £560 a month for the privilege and no student fees :D I do two three month placements a year full time so don't work any extra then but outside of that I do some care work in my spare time so bring in another £300 or so, plus my dad helps me out a bit. I'm currently loaning a horse, I pay for his schooling livery £30 a week and shoes when he needs them, I will be buying him though when the loan finishes in a month (fingers crossed)

I'm 19 and work full time in a solicitors office (I'm in conveyancing so if anyone's buying or selling a house let me know!!) And earn about 750 a month. I live with my dad and have my own car and one horse. I'm forever skint but manage to make sure all my bills are covered and baileys bills are sorted each month :)

So in short; jobs 1, money none, horses 1, life none ;-) xx

My situation is changing slightly as I'm being made redundant so until I get another job then finances are different but up until 3 weeks ago I earnt about £42k a year -

I'm 31, getting married next year, own house which costs about £9k a year (mortgage, bills, food, savings, everything etc)

Car & lorry £6k a year including everything for lorry, car fuel paid for by work (expenses)

2 horses on DIY, I compete, have lessons but I'm on a cheap yard about £7k a year

Add on holidays £1.5k a year

Had couple of loans including student loan about £2k

Then extras in odd meal out, christmas, birthday presents, hair cuts etc - although this is all very rare as I am always skint so treating myself is very much a treat and is rare!

I work in sales/ account management

I am 27 still living at home with my parents - there is no way I can afford a house at the moment but am saving for a mortgage which I have been doing so over the last five years since I moved back home.

I have a car (now mine had to get a loan but has been paid off), a dog, a tortoise (low cost to keep him), a horse and a pony.

I work full time in the local Dr's surgery as a receptionist for about £7.50 p/h. I pay into my nhs pension to from my wages.

I have to pay £50 a month for my horses grazing, nothing for the shettie as he is kept at my friends and is very useful as a baby sitter to the youngsters. Pay my car insurance, tax , fuels, tyres etc. Mobile phone bill and insurance. I pay for my dad's boat insurance as never know what to get him for his birthday. I put £20 into a little standby saving a month not much but mounts up over time, also put£200 into savings. I also pay £25 per week with my mum we pay every other so it's not just one of us paying into a band of hope for Christmas. Oh i also have finance on my eyes as I had them lasered it's £100 a month, also I pay for the sky subscription for the house3 boxes.

I don't pay any rent as can't really afford to but I do buy quite a bit of food shopping etc.

Always skint!!

Mum and dad are very good they paid my vets bills when jack sliced his leg open, they pay for things if I am really stuck. Don't know what I would do without them as I am very lucky to have them and all that they do for me - I love them!!

I'm 27
Job is in Call Centre (so not much above minimum wage).
2 Native ponies on DIY grass livery.
I pay my house rent £490 p/m.
Horse Insurance, BHS membership annually, money to parents as they paid for a trailer for me,
Livery @ £96 p/c/m, shoes every 6 weeks @ £70, a trim every 12 weeks @ £30
Feed @ £40 p/m ish - one on high-fibre nuts and one on formula4feet
Hay is paid in July @ £300 and that does us for 1 year.

I pay everything for my ponies although OH doesn't mind buying them little bits and pieces :D He also pays our food/petrol and other house costs. He is Self-Employed and has debts which we are gradually getting rid of.

The last time we went out was July to a wedding. We do however have at least 3 takeaways a month. If not for the ponies, Id have loads of money but they keep me sane and happy and OH doesnt mind them.

If it wasn't for my OH (and what my parents have done for me), there's no way I'd have one horse, never mind 2.

I did have 1 horse when I stayed at home, on minimum wage and paying £50 a week rent to parents, horse livery was £10 p/w, I had no debts, and had a car. Today in the same situation I would manage easily BUT if I wasn't living with parents it would be impossible I think.

This is interesting!

I am 22, have one pony at parents yard. I pay a set (def high enough to completetly cover everything, but still not as much if i moved out!) rent every month for Blue and I, then I will pay shavings / vet bills / any other extras.

I live with the rents, and i buy milk, pet food, loo rolls etc on top of rent.
Brought my own car & pay everything for it, same with phone bill and i pay the Internet for the house.
I'm only in admin but am earning a decent amount so after car is paid (only a lil Suzuki hopefully not too long) then will try and save some more

I'm always out and about but quite nifty at organising free / cheapy things :D

24, work full time as a General Manager on roughly 25k been doing it for just over a year.

I have 1 horse, 1 dog, 1 house rabbit, 2 gerbils.

Whisper is on DIY which works out at roughly £38pw, I know the hay man so buy him a drink every now and then and chuck him £20 when I see him. Buy feed as and when I need it, and Whisper is on straw so get that from hay man as well.

I pay for all my bills (phone/car/loan/insurances for all the 4 legged beasts) and live with a friend I just give them £170 a month towards my living there.

I get paid fortnightly and by the end of the first week I am skint again.

Don't often go out not the partying type, but do smoke so money goes down the drain there.

No savings, but working on that one for 2012

I am 25, I work as a PA on £26k. I live with my mum and hardly pay any rent - I have just got a new job so will pay her more.

I have a mare & foal who I pay for myself and a car that I own outright & run myself.

I am hopeless with money! Cannot save so this is my challenge as I will have 2 horses to pay for next year!

I'm 21, live at home with my mum but she's a single parent so I help her alot with money!I'm 21, live at home with my mum but she's a single parent

I earn 12660 a year in my 9-5 job ( getting a pay rise) it's nothing for how much responsibility I have, so looking for a new job.

About 5k a year from my part time bar job (work 3 nights and one day a weekend)

About 2k + from teaching a year. So after tax about 18k a year, Mayve a bit less.

300 a month 'digs'
200 car finance
100 insurance (mental price as i have to pay monthly this year - was only 400 to pay it off)
50 phone.

No horse just now but I do ride for some people and could probably afford to share.

I don't earn that much but to my friends I seem to ve doing very well - don't go without anything I want drive a nice car go on holidays etc, BUT I put that down to my income coming from 3 different places so it's spread out and it's not all sitting in the bank on payday.

very interesting and somewhat reassuring!

I'm 22, work 4 days in a pre-school, below the min.wage. College 1 day a week (funded). Still at home, currently on driving lessons.
1 horse, all my wages go on him. Get paid every 4 weeks excluding the school holidays ( get 2 weeks at xmas and 3 in the summer). Would love another job so I can be financially secure for him. He's on DIY, shod all round. Money's really tight, but I'm trying.

Im 18, I work in reservations which pays £7 an hour, plus 10% T&A (so make sure I get in on time, I get 10% added on from my monthly salary) Also get commission so the more I sell, the more I make. However I only work part time. Currently looking for more hours or another part time job.

I have 2 horses. One has just gone out on loan. I have a car, which i pay for. Live at home currently, but moving out next year with OH. When we do, ill sell my car and share his as its far nicer! Ill pay food bills and horses and OH will pay rent and bills as he has alot more money then I do! Next year is going to be the best year ever!!

Age: 23
Job: Deputy manager of a pub/part time in recruitment/freelance horsey work
Salary: Combined I TAKE HOME 21k p/a
Vehicles: Car & 7.5t horsebox
Horses: x4! Hopefully 3 by the end of this month
Rent: £300 pcm

I look after some polo ponies year round in exchange for free livery/feed/hay all year round and the horse I'm trying to sell costs me £160 pcm plus hay and straw. I pay everything for both vehicles (I owe nothing on either, they're mine outright!). I have no debt, no kids and I live comfortably. I work 7 days per week (but I gat a full day off boxing day and a week wednesday, its sad that i'm so excited by this!). Bills are included in rent and OH buys most of the food as I can't be trusted to come back with the right stuff :D

Very interesting - good to know I'm not the only one who keeps a spreadsheet!

I'm 6 weeks into owning my first horse and my finances seem to be working out well - think my estimates were pretty much spot on (I have spent years counting down to when I could afford my own lol). I have a little in a savings account for horsey emergencies. Now I'm thinking about saving up for transport!

I finished uni in 2002 and did a few low paid jobs (not enough to keep a horse on) - I didn't really know what I wanted to do. In 2007 I started teaching and could have dashed out and bought a horse then but I've waited until now so I can comfortably afford one - i.e. still go for meals out, weekends away etc (I don't have an extravagent life style lol). I've not lived with parents since I was 18 so always supported myself (parents helped while I was at uni) and have own car. I rent a house with OH but I pay a larger proportion of bills/rent etc as I earn more. The only debt I have is student loan. Our combined income is between 40000 and 45000.

I'm wondering how much it costs people to have their own transport (box or 4X4 and trailer) per year?

My 7.5t lorry costs me -
Tax £185
Ins & breakdown £300 ish
Plating £90
Servicing - I put away £100 a month and this seems to be about right
Fuel £30 a month ish this does for 1or 2 comps and a lesson each month

Thank you! So if you drive to a couple of comps a month or more then it's probably cheaper to have own transport. I'll prob hack to local shows this year and get saving!

Ok so my situation is slightly confusing!
Im 20, nearly 21 and i work in a college full time as a specialist support instructor but im classed as an agency worker so i take home anything from 600 to 1200 a month.
Once i finish my university degree ( full time/ one day a week!1 year left) then i will have an establishment possition and will be on 23kPA. i live at home and do not pay rent as im a student :-D im not going to argue!
I have 3 horses but usually have 2! one is for sale!
I have two cars, one on finance and a 4x4 discovery! My mum is having my car that i have on finance so i just have the 4x4 to run. The only reason i got the car was i had deciced to get a 3.5t lorry! that didnt happen and i took my trailer test instead!
I pay for the running costs of my cars myself. I also have a dog and rabbit. my mum pays for the cat :)
I pay 27 a month for my phone bill. i also pay 25 a month for a gym membership as i do zumba twice a week!
I pay about 40-60 a month on feed and supplements
120 on haylage and an extra 60 ontop for my stables. i do the yard owners horses twice a week to make my rent cheaper.
to summarise i have to many outgoings haha!!
And to make things alot better, its going to cost me about 400 to get my disco through and mot! :-/
