Actually, I hadn't taken that into account. Mine lives at the grass livery because he needs company. I can get this two ways - he lives at home and I buy another horse (thus doubling my feed, insurance, and general maintenance costs), or he lives at the grass livery with a few nice companions where I have to pay a single monthly amount. It doesn't quite balance out, but it's not far off!
And I get the added bonus of a few people to share the work, and we can offer each other holiday cover etc. I wouldn't get that if I kept him at home, I would need to buy in holiday cover, an extra expense.
